Job Summary This position is currently available for work at home to candidates that reside in the following states: Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York – Exempt only, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Washington (within 80 miles of Coeur d’Alene) or who reside in neighboring states and within 60 miles of Chadds Ford, PA or Lenexa, KS. The Site Reliability Engineering team provides design, support & implementation of tooling and process that provide greater observability, performance and stability to our production systems, as well as reducing the time and cost of delivering code from dev to production. The Senior SRE leads zero or more SREs. They help design and develop both the CI/CD, performance testing & the observability tools. They help define processes and best practices for other teams to follow. They help define the roadmap & break down epics into stories to improve CI/CD and observability. They can own multiple epics and see them through to a successful on time completion. They work independently from prioritized requirements and initiatives. They are the first point of escalation for SRE II when there are issues with the CI/CD process or the observability tools. The Senior SRE works with multiple product teams to identify common pain points and identify process improvements. They provide technical mentorship, as well as code & story review for SRE I & II. At the Senior SRE level, they may decide to specialize in a specific area of SRE while maintaining knowledge of the entire team. The Senior SRE is expected to make sure that SRE I & II are working on stories appropriate for their levels and are delivering quality results. The Senior SRE has an in-depth knowledge of AWS, Terraform, Ansible, Go, Kubernetes, various CI/CD tools, and various monitoring tools. They have multiple years of production experience using these systems. They are recognized as a SME in either CI/CD, Performance or Observability, with strong expertise in the others. They are recognized as a strong developer. They have some experience in leadership and project management. Job Description Essential Job Functions Technology – The Senior Site Reliability Engineer provides solutions in projects requiring implementation technical expertise in Observability, Performance, and Deployment areas, including existing and new builds, and systems integration. Creates Engineering standards to govern Bread Financial system designs and processes. Participates in problems, change management and escalated incidents. This includes planning, build requirements, BOM/SoW review, systems monitoring, automation & performance fine tuning. The Senior SRE identifies gaps and risks in operation, capacity, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery efforts. Works related problems, change management and escalated incidents. Submits RFQ/RFPs, & aggregates documents and proposals. Creates procedures related to job/team responsibilities and other documentation as requested for internal customers, audits and compliance purposes. Provides after hours primary or secondary on-call support for critical incidents as well as after hours and weekend change implementation execution Relationship - Collaborates with cross-functional departments & IT partners to plan integration efforts that align with business/operation initiatives. Maintains assigned vendor relationships and partners to support strategy and architectural design efforts for assigned technology. Documentation - Helps create and maintain Engineering standards, process & workflow, & Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery plans. Documents requirements to ensure we can meet SLAs. Documents results of testing plans. Business Knowledge and Project Involvement: Demonstrates a degree of business knowledge within the general financial services domain. Strive to influence the team to generate support to achieve desired business outcomes. Team Collaboration: Cultivates relationships across roles and organizations to maximize collaboration, partnership, and efficiency. Provides feedback formally and informally. Requests and utilize feedback to foster personal development. Reports to: SRE Manager Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements: Must maintain currency of technical skills in relevant technologies. 24/7 On-call coverage; may be required to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends and possibly holidays; May be required to travel domestically 0-15% annually. Direct Reports: None Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience Can be concurrent, but a minimum of 6 Years experience 3 Years in SRE/DevOps 3 Years in Development In the correct environments, SRE/DevOps *may* count as Development experience. Typical Starting Range: $106,200.00 - $192,400.00 Full Salary Range for position: California:$122,000.00 - $240,600.00 Colorado:$106,200.00 - $202,000.00 New York:$116,800.00 - $240,600.00 Washington:$111,400.00 - $221,100.00 The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills. Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial’s 401(k) plan. All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safety Time per calendar year at the beginning of each year and is prorated in the associate’s first year of employment. Hired associates will be able to elect to purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December.
