Description

Position Overview

Bread Alone’s VP of People Operations is a leadership role with responsibilities across the business ranging from ownership of all procedures and policies in the Handbook to recruiting and retaining talent and includes the enhancement of every touchpoint for employee engagement, including our newly created People Space at the Lake Katrine Production Bakery and the management of the Payroll workflow to ensure accurate and timely functions such as PTO, deferrals and compliance notifications.

The VP of People Operations must develop strategies to ensure that each team and individual has the opportunity to achieve their potential and the group as a whole acts with intention to achieve our goals while continually aligning our values.

The VP of People Operations must work to develop and maintain necessary dashboard and KPI tools to ensure that recruitment is efficient, retainage is appropriately monitored and issues are addressed swiftly.

The VP of People Operations oversees all employee performance evaluations and development plans, all HR functions including compliance and benefit management. These responsibilities require close collaboration and communication with the entire Bread Alone management team.

Requirements

Duties, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Create and Support best-in-class innovations for recruitment and retention.
  • Total ownership of policies and procedures in The Handbook. Responsibilities range from adherence to style guides through ensuring 100% accessibility for all team members.
  • Continually improve employee performance and engagement through the design and implementation of exceptional professional development processes, including employee reviews, coaching, goal-setting, and performance metrics.
  • Support Bread Alone Purpose, Values, and Culture (PVC) by further developing onboarding and ongoing PVC programming that engages and trains employees.
  • Oversee HR Management and the global support of all employees
  • Oversee all aspects of Payroll including ensuring enrollment is accurate, benefits administration is timely and all other aspects of payroll are completed, including separation responsibilities.
  • Maximize participation of Bread Alone benefits such as healthcare and 401k, overseeing current programs and identifying new and compelling benefits that support employees in their lives and that recruit the best talent. 
  • Ensure high level hospitality in our shared People Space by overseeing all aspects of managing the dining room, reception space and employee kitchen.
  • Prepare and present recruiting and retainage performance results and forecasts to ownership team and advisory board members
  • Continually improve Bread Alone’s onboarding and new hire training process, ensuring that employees are welcomed, informed, and prepared to excel in their roles. 
  • Work collaboratively with Directors and Managers across all departments to implement and create accountability for all policies.
  • Collaborate with Branding Manager to ensure that all materials meet brand standards including language and syntax.
  • Assist with selection and implementation of IT solutions across business as appropriate
  • Attend trade shows, visit other businesses, and review appropriate periodicals to bring the best ideas back to Bread Alone
  • Identify appropriate training and professional development opportunities for self, retail managers and associates
  • Act with integrity, honesty, knowledge and professionalism to promote the culture, values and mission of Bread Alone

 Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years People-related experience
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence
  • Ability to own performance and results for self and team
  • Significant experience working with internal controls and compliance
  • Hands-on experience required
  • Hands-on ERP experiences preferred
  • HR management experience preferred
  • IT management experience preferred
  • Approachable with effective coaching skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen, learn and distill consistent brand language and aesthetics
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Respect for and comfort with a diverse and inclusive workplace
  • Willing to follow all safety guidelines set out by Bread Alone
  • The Bakery is open 365 days a year and team members must be willing to work consistently throughout the year which includes holidays and weekends

Compensation Details:

Bread Alone is committed to balancing the demands of the business and providing a living wage to all those who contribute to our success. Pay range for this position is $125,000 to $174,000 annually. 

We Offer:

  • Company-Wide, Quarterly Bonus: All full-time employees are included in our quarterly bonus program. As you spend more time with us you earn a bigger share of our bonus pool. As our business succeeds, so too will you.
  • Twice Annual Review: Every year employees receive 2 rounds of feedback on their professional development and will be eligible for a merit increase during their annual review 
  • 401k: Employer match of up to 4% after 6 months
  • Paid Time Off: 80 hours increasing to 120 hours at year 3, then increasing 8 hours yearly to a maximum of 160 hours.
  • Wellness Time: 56 hours for full time salaried employees after 30 days. Unused time paid out at the end of year!
