Position Overview 

Bread Alone’s People and Culture Manager is a leadership role with cross functional responsibilities across the business ranging from talent acquisition, counsel on procedure and policy interpretation, retention strategies, employee engagement benefits and employee relations issues. 

The People & Culture Manager is the gatekeeper of administration support for on-boarding, proactive recruitment, rewards / recognition, performance management, engagement surveys, human resource compliance and the delivery of leadership soft-skills and HR training.

The People & Culture Manager will lead a team of People professionals and is a point of contact in all HR related information for our people and our operation leaders. They are the bridge between the operations and administrative team and will help our employees thrive by building deep personalized relationships and proactively supporting them during their employee life cycle & experiences. They will succeed in this role by knowing our people, and business well along with displaying and championing Bread Alone’s Purpose Values and Culture. 

The People & Culture Manager reports directly to the Director of People & Culture and works closely alongside the Director of Training. 

Requirements

 Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the liaison between the People / Admin departments and the operations leadership teams, providing collaborative guidance and advice on integrated communication strategies to build employee morale, engagement, productivity, retention, and policy compliance
  • Assists with employee interviewing, on-boarding and termination, as well as coordination of staffing activities such as job postings, candidate screening, and interviewing
  • Oversees distribution of the employee handbook, conducts informational meetings, training sessions, and other communication forums to explain and discuss human resource policies 
  • Communicates initiatives and deadlines to employees in a variety of print, digital, and interpersonal ways, tasks may include but not limited to creating and publishing calendars, hosting meetings, internal intranet post, and launching Bread Alone employee newsletter
  • Drafts and distributes informative materials such as open enrollment materials, performance review initiatives, and summaries of perks and benefits
  • Implements, conducts, facilitates, and/or analyzes results of employee morale and retention initiatives such as incentive programs, stay interviews, career development meetings, employee surveys, and exit interviews
  • Provides guidance and coaching to senior leaders, managers, and the People department on communication strategies; assists with challenges such as low morale, high turnover, absenteeism, departures, and other difficult conversations
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in employee retention, employee engagement, morale, recognition, productivity, and incentives
  • Manages People administrative employees by overseeing their daily workflow and ensuring accuracy of work and completion of task
  • Coordinates, promotes, and attends all special events such as annual events, community service activities; and new hires, promotions, and retirements
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Identify appropriate training and professional development opportunities for self, and team
  • Act with integrity, honesty, knowledge and professionalism to promote the culture, values and mission of Bread Alone

Job Requirements:

  • Solid HR background with a minimum 3-5 years of people-related HR experience
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and senior leadership presence
  • Ability to work autonomously and own performance and results for self and team
  • Significant hands-on experience working with HRIS and compliance systems
  • Comfortable in resolving conflict, delivering difficult messages, addressing all people related issues
  • Approachable with effective coaching skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen, learn and distill consistent brand language and aesthetics
  • Comfort with navigating ambiguity and defining direction and solutions in a fast paced constantly evolving environment
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience with DEI initiatives preferred
  • IT management experience preferred
  • Respect for and comfort with a diverse and inclusive workplace
  • Willing to follow all safety guidelines set out by Bread Alone
  • The Bakery is open 365 days a year and team members must be willing to work consistently throughout the year which includes holidays and weekends

Job Type: Full-time, exempt

Compensation Details: Bread Alone is committed to balancing the demands of the business and providing a living wage to all those who contribute to our success. Pay range for this position is $55,000 to $74,000 annually. A breakdown of the pay range for all positions company-wide is listed below.
Bread Alone Pay scale:

  • Professional- $17 to $21/Hour (Tipped Professional- $16 to $19/Hour)
  • Supervisor- $21.50 to $24/Hour (Tipped Supervisor- $19.50 to $23/Hour)
  • Junior Manager - $50,000 - $54,000 annually
  • Managers- $55,000 to $74,000 annually
  • Director- $75,000 to $124,000 annually
  • Vice President- $125,000 - $174,000 annually 
  • C- Suite- $175,000 to $250,000 annually

  • Twice Annual Review: Every year you will receive 2 rounds of feedback on your professional development and will be eligible for a merit increase during annual reviews 
  • 401k: Employer match of up to 4% after 6 months
  • Paid Time Off: 80 hours increasing to 120 hours at year 3, then increasing 8 hours yearly to a maximum of 160 hours.
  • Wellness Time: 56 hours for full time and 16 hours for part time after 30 days. Unused time paid out at the end of year!
  • CDPHP Health Insurance: Healthcare available through CDPHP. 
  • Dental Insurance: Available through Delta Dental.
  • Vision and Life Insurance: Provided to all employees at no cost
  • Educational Assistance: Reimbursed up to $2,000 annually
