Electrician Assistant, Parks Department 
Brazoria County Parks Department is growing and thriving in Southeast Texas, and features 10 recreational park sites, one historic site, more than 20 boat ramp facilities and some 14 miles of public beach along the coast. This region boasts diverse wildlife and landscapes such as Columbia Bottomland forests, rivers, bays, estuaries and the Gulf of Mexico. 1. Basic Job Description: The successful candidate for Parks Department Electrician Assistant will perform the following duties:
   • This position will be a part of a park maintenance crew team. A majority of the time, this position will work alongside a licensed electrician to perform general electrical work on site at Park facilities such as assessing and replacing faulty breakers, outlets, switches, panels and wiring; installation of lights, ballasts, ceiling fans and appliances, and assessment/repair of electrical motors, septic systems, and assist with other general electrical and operational needs. 
   • Will also assist in other general construction, renovations, repairs, and maintenance of all park facilities; 

Other duties may be assigned by Park senior staff, including but not limited to helping at Park events, outreach, beach cleaning and maintenance, grounds work, etc.

• Requirements: 2 years or more of on-the-job/project experience as a member of a maintenance crew, electrician or electrician assistant. Must be able to read building plans and specs and have experience with all necessary hand tools of the trade such as hammer, drill, saws and other power tools. 
• Preference will be given to those who also have well-rounded trade experience in electrical / wiring, as well as other maintenance skills such as plumbing, carpentry, or operation of equipment such as a tractor, backhoe, dump truck, riding lawnmowers, skid steer, weed eaters, etc. 
• Knowledge of small engine repair, lawn care, wastewater treatment, or A/C-HVAC, etc., would also be considered a plus. 
• Additional consideration will be given to those with previous work experience for a parks, recreation, wildlife/fisheries agency or public works department.
• Position will typically involve daily travel in county park vehicle along with crew members to various job sites, park locations and beaches for facility construction, repairs, renovation, project development, maintenance, etc.
• This position may also help oversee probationer and community service workers while they are on site in the park to assist with park maintenance, etc. 
• Other Qualifications: high school diploma or G.E.D.; additional consideration will be given to those with trade school, college or other education/training.
• Must comply with all Brazoria County policies such as a uniform dress code, and be able to pass county background check and drug test.
• Schedule: Employee must be willing to work non-traditional schedule such as four, 10-hour day shifts that begin at 6 a.m., occasional evening, weekend and holiday projects, as well as share in an after-hours on-call rotation with other team members. Work conditions are often outdoors in all manner of elements and weather conditions, sometimes with tight deadlines to serve the public interest. Position will typically report to work at Angleton Parks HQ location, Monday thru Thursday.

• Salary range: Grade 33; $45,128 - $49,313 per year ($21.70 - $23.72 per hour) plus county benefits package, and is a full-time, 40-hour per week, non-supervisory position;
• Supervisor: Park Electrician Assistant position reports directly to Parks Lead Maintenance Foreman and Parks Deputy Director.
