THE OPPORTUNITY

WHAT YOU BRING
8 years of digital product or service design experience, preferably in wellness, commerce or healthcare or an analogous industry
5 years of hands-on user interface or interaction design
2 years experience applying human-centered design approaches, methods and tools to solve complex problems
Comfortable as a design generalist with a diverse toolkit to understand, build and communicate an end-to-end- experience (eg. Low-fidelity sketching, user journey, mapping, wireframes, prototyping, service blueprinting, creating experience or design principles)
Expertise in Sketch or Figma, Adobe CS, and prototyping tools
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a small cross-functional team
Be a strong collaborator who embraces change, designs with curiosity and empathy, and brings a positive, optimistic mindset to the team
Tolerance for ambiguity and superpower for translating it into organized and clear steps
Comfortable discussing and facilitating discussions with senior leadership
Experience pitching to executive audiences a plus

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Work with Entrepreneurs-in-Residence and the Design Studio team across diverse projects, managing multiple work streams, being responsive and adaptive to moving deadlines, and proactively doing what is necessary to steward excellent outcomes
Be involved in the early stages of the design process, from research through concepting, prototyping, and building, but also supporting the later stages of product development to ensure integrity of design principles
Effectively apply consumer insights to a variety of digital solutions including but not limited to: journey maps, UI flows, and storytelling deliverables
Celebrate and execute low-fidelity prototyping and UX research approaches
Use and be an advocate for the human-centered design process, as well as act as a design generalist on the team
Help define timelines, facilitate progress, and ensure all projects successfully reach their goals
Lead with action to inspire and encourage teams in use of new methods and push thinking

In support of that mission, they are seeking a UX Designer to join their Design Studio team. The UX Designer will support the exploration of consumer hypotheses with a human centered lens with the goal of driving insights and bringing innovative digital services, features, and products to life.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
As a key member of the Design Studio team, you will bring expertise in best practices in what’s new and next in the UX design space. The Design Studio is a team focused on customer research and UX design that uses the iterative human-centered design process to ideate, research, test and ultimately validate digital products with consumers. You’ll also collaborate with Valiant Labs Portfolio Team members, including the Product and Tech team to tackle cross-disciplinary needs, and serve as a partner to their entrepreneurs-in-residence.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
The Design Studio is a multidisciplinary team that uses the iterative human-centered design process to research, ideate, test and ultimately, validate new digital products with consumers. As part of the process, you will support the research and validation of consumer hypotheses and value propositions across multiple projects through experimentation design, creation of low fidelity proof of concepts, and iterative prototype development. You will bring a mix of deep interaction design experience and visual UX design to establish business goals. You will be comfortable driving the initial design exploration and testing, detailed product design, as well as prototyping and documentation. Being highly collaborative in nature, working with new ventures to build impactful designs, you will help discover powerful stories and new digital services that help to shape the future of our client’s business.
