Requirements

Our client needs 6 senior java engineers for a major US broadcasting company with experience in:

• Java*
• Scala**
• SBT**
• Redis
• Git
• bash or other shell (Linux-ish)
• data at scale**
  • AWS (DynamoDB, Kinesis, ElastiCache)
  • Understanding of microservices patterns
  • Understanding of asynchronous programming models

Duration: 6 months, forecast extension to end of 2023 and beyond

What you’ll be working on

While a major US broadcasting company invests in the building of a new audio streaming platform at scale that is future proof, existing services and products have not only to be maintained but enhanced to a certain level to ensure operability.

The company wants to bring on expert engineers who can bridge the gap between current DevOps & build teams to address issues such as:

1. how code is deployed
2. performance
3. memory leakage
4. scaling
5. load test Java / Java ng
6. Instrumentation
7. Per-try errors vs higher-level errors (all tries failed, throw exception, log errors)

The scope of the workis to triage current state to include areas which are currently problematic and collaborate with “DevOps team” and “New features team” to understand where the most impacting issues are occurring and design, architect, and implement solutions that would deliver the biggest wins.

The objectivesare to

• implement changes that improve the stability and overall reliability of the existing platform while the future state is built and before it is ready for customer launch, by looking for areas where they can score tactical / short-term wins which improve stability; and
• build cohesion between engineering and DevOps; work across teams so that Engineering has better visibility into points of failure and is able to take ownership in monitoring software.
