Boys' Latin of Philadelphia is Hiring a Director of Academics Near PHILADELPHIA, PA

Director of Academics – up to $2,500 signing bonus

A full-time, competitively paid position at a first-rate college preparatory school for boys.

The Director of Academics leads the curriculum, instruction, assessment programs as well as academic data analysis and reporting and teacher training, development, and evaluation programs at Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia (“Boys’ Latin” or “the school”) in support of the school’s mission: preparing boys for success in college and beyond. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) and serving on the Central Support Team, the Director of Academics provides leadership, training, and technical assistance related to the aforementioned programs to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and progress toward meeting goals.

The director will perform the following duties:• Develop and oversee the curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs: o Develop curriculum guides to be distributed to staff and/or other concerned parties. o Provide for the introduction of relevant innovative programs, revised methodology and new books, materials, and

technology for upgrading and updating the curriculum. o Coordinate the selection of textbooks and instructional materials throughout the Network through the use of faculty

committees and recommend those selected to the CEO for adoption by the Boys’ Latin Board of Trustees (“the board”). o Provide structure for periodic measurement and evaluation of the success of the curriculum, in terms of the educational

growth and achievement of students. o Monitor the purchasing of instructional materials and equipment.

• Collaborate in collecting and analyzing all academic data, and managing the creation and revision of all academic data analysis and intervention programs: o Manage the school’s assessment program, including maintaining the assessment calendar, content, and data. o Collaborate with the school principals in reporting school academic performance to the CEO and the board. o Organize and administer the assessment program to measure student performance in the PA Common Core and other

relevant standards. o Collect, analyze, and distribute data regarding the needs and achievement of students and other pertinent information

affecting the design and implementation of services and programs, using the information to recommend new programs

and modifications to existing programs. o Collect and analyze test data and maintain longitudinal study of all test data with an emphasis on student growth and

achievement.

• Lead teacher training, professional development, and evaluation support: o Manage school professional development in accordance with the vision for teaching and learning. o Provide instructional services to the schools and school staff. o Leads program development, including curriculum, instructional strategies, and instructional materials. o Plans and implements professional development and training for principals, teachers, and support staff. o Lead the teacher apprentice and residency programs, and network level onboarding of new teacher and staff in the

instructional program and model. o Lead the mentorship program for teachers participating in the residency or alternative certification route programs,

providing support to the mentors assigned to each participating teacher. o Plan, organize, supervise, and evaluate a comprehensive staff development program that addresses identified staff needs.

• Provide network level oversight and communication of academic programs and associated staffing: o Manage school professional development in accordance with the vision for teaching and learning. o Provide instructional services to the schools and school staff. o Leads program development, including curriculum, instructional strategies, and instructional materials. o Plans and implements professional development and training for principals, teachers, and support staff. o Lead the teacher apprentice program and network level onboarding of new teacher and staff in the instructional program and model.

o Responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, and evaluating a comprehensive staff development program that

addresses identified staff needs. o Conduct classroom observations and provide supervision/evaluation of Directors and Instructional Supervisors (with

input from building principals).

Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia prepares boys for success in college and beyond.
