The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Piedmont is Hiring a Youth Development Professional Near Mooresville, NC

Position Summary: ***This is for our two locations in Iredell County***

Youth Development Professionals have the biggest impact on members; therefore, this is the most important position in the organization. The Youth Development Professional's primary role is to engage members to take them to the next level of impact. A Youth Development Professionals main mission is to change the lives of members one day at a time.

In a positive and fun Boys & Girls Club, work with children in a group setting to deliver daily programs for members in grades K - 5th. Youth Development Specialists needed for the following areas: Homework/tutoring, academic success, reading, STEM activities, and life skills

Lead activities for the K-5th grade age group with community service projects, social & educational events, and to teach BGCA programs.

These positions are part-time. Schedules cover 20 hours/week between 8 am - 4 pm Monday - Friday.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have valid identification
  • Ability to organize, supervise, engage, and discipline members
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Ability to self-direct and lead members to ensure program goals are met
  • Ability to create High Yield Activities for members to keep them engaged

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist members and ensure that their homework is completed accurately each day
  • Engage members with High Yield Learning Activities in the absence of homework
  • Empower members to be leaders through positive role modeling
  • Provide recognition to members through positive validations, healthy incentives, and affirmation on a regular basis
  • Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information
  • Maintain records of homework completion and progress
  • Complete weekly progress reports
  • Facilitate program curriculum (Ex. Smart Moves, Robotics, HIT)
  • May be assigned monitoring duties: i.e. hallways, playground, and cafeteria

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 4 hour shift

Experience:

  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)
