Boys and Girls Clubs of San Francisco is Hiring a Program Leader (Part-Time) Near San Francisco, CA

Description

Position Purpose

Under the direct supervision of Club Leadership, the Cohort Program Leader supports the Clubhouse by providing youth development services and limited operational support. The Cohort Program Leader will work in a team with a second Program Leader ('co-lead') and together they are responsible for oversight and programming for a group of 12-14 members (the 'cohort'). The Cohort Program Leader must remain with their cohort of kids each day. Additionally, they shall assume accountability for the results in achieving the outlined goals and objectives of the Club’s programs.

This position is part time (25 hours weekly during the school year; 40 hours weekly during our summer programming) supporting our Malcolm X School Site.

Key Responsibilities

Programming – 60%

  • Plan, organize, and implement a range of activities/programs for youth daily.
  • Ensure programs and activities meet members’ needs, including safety, enrichment, quality, and fun.
  • Initiate new and creative program ideas, promoting and stimulating program participation.
  • Work with co-lead on special events (i.e Youth of the Week)
  • Ensure the Optimal Clubhouse Experience is achieved through regular review of BGCA’s Program Basics BluePrint tools, resources, and recommendations.
  • Incorporate activities and practices that reduce trauma and increase wellness, as shared and recommended by Behavioral Health Services’ (BHS).
  • Adhere to Club’s meal service program protocols.
  • Transport Club members (safe walks, in Club vehicles) as needed and approved by the supervisor.

Leadership – 30 %

  • Utilize Club’s Positive Behavior Policy when holding members accountable to agreements.
  • Compliance with the Club’s Restroom Policy.
  • Manage inventory of all cleaning and program equipment and supplies. Inform leadership of supplies needed.
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
  • Ensure a healthy, safe, and inclusive environment and safeguard the confidentiality of all youth.
  • Maintain contact as needed with members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems.
  • At all times maintain a professional appearance and manner reflective of the high standards of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco.

Other Duties – 10%

  • Conduct temperature checks as needed.
  • Disinfect and sanitize the department before and after work shift; and hourly throughout the day.
  • Complete and submit daily sign-in sheets as requested.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and training.
  • Meet weekly with the BHS staff member assigned to your cohort.
  • Submit weekly summary to the Club Leadership.
  • Attend all BGCSF mandatory training.
  • Perform any other duties the Club Leadership might deem necessary and supportive of the best interest of the Club and the overall organization.

Requirements

Required Skills

  • Experience working with youth in a youth development setting.
  • The ability to quickly develop strong and positive relationships with youth.
  • An interest in a variety of youth programs including technology, art, sports, and recreation.
  • Ability to set and hold strong and effective boundaries with youth.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Organized. 
  • Tech savvy, including but not limited to Google Workplace. 
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment with continual distractions.
  • Self Starter.
  • Flexible.
  • Create and follow systems and procedures.
  • Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license and be able to operate a 12 passenger vehicle.

Preferred Skills

  • BA/BS from an accredited college or university or equivalent youth development and office management experience.
  • Spanish/English Language Skills. 

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for at least 2 hours consecutively.

Pay

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and BGCSF needs. At BGCSF, our decisions are based on other factors and dependant on circumstances for each position. Depending on the need and requirement of the position, an individual could be hired at or near the entry level, mid - level or top of the range for their role and compensation. As such, a reasonable estimate of the current range is starting at $21 per hour.
