Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor is Hiring a Youth Development Professional Near Harbor City, CA

Schedule Needed: 2:00pm-6pm, Monday-Friday

Hours: 20-25 hours per week

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title: Youth Development Professional (YDP)

Reports To: Site Coordinator & Regional Director

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Primary Function:

Under direction, the purpose of the position is to provide staff support in any assigned program, performing assistant work to the Site-Coordinator. Such programs include, but are not necessarily limited to, Lunch and Snack Program, Games Room and Program Area, and the Gym and Playground. Position provides support in the assigned functional program area by monitoring member’s behavior, providing instruction and assistance in communicating with members, parents and/or staff, and enforcing codes of conduct. Incumbents work with members both individually and in-groups as directed by the Site Coordinator.

Key Roles (essential Job Responsibilities):

  • Provides assistance and support in an assigned functional program.
  • Monitors activities and behavior of members during program activities to ensure the physical and environmental safe keeping of the members, as well as the adherence to appropriate conduct and disciplinary control.
  • Assists Site Director, Program Director and/or Program Coordinator with development and implementation of program curriculum
  • Maintains and properly stores equipment, supplies and materials, as applicable to the assigned program
  • Performs recruitment activities as applicable to the assigned program

Additional Responsibilities:

While following tasks are necessary for the work of the program, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members.

Environment and Working Conditions:

  • Tasks are regularly performed with moderate exposure to environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, and temperature and noise extremes.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight
