Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant I is responsible to perform administrative accounting projects, including reviewing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and grant reporting functions. Responsible for preparing bank transactions, business filings, financial reports, budgets and other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Finance. Responsible for providing oversight for the purchasing function for all club locations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Review all invoices for coding to the correct general ledger
  • Receive cash/payments, prepare receipts and bank deposits in a timely manner.
  • Account for cash receipts and perform regular audits of cash handling procedures.
  • Participate in preparing the annual club budget and inputting into the accounting system, once reviewed and approved.
  • Semi-monthly payroll processing with allocations to grants.
  • Provide support to the Director of Operations for the Food Program
  • Provide support to Controller to develop work flow processes.
  • Manage vendor agreements between the supplier and the Club.
  • Oversee and assist Assistant Accountant on requisitions and purchasing
  • Reconcile accounts and assist with month end financial reporting.
  • Demonstrate skills both verbal and written to communicate with a diverse population of board members, parents, donors and club members.
  • Participate in various special events and provide support as needed.
  • Provide training to management staff as necessary.
  • Invoice customers, track payments, and regularly follow up on any unpaid receivables
  • Assist with Scholarship Tracking and disbursements.
  • Required to attend and participate in regular administrative meetings.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively with a diverse population, and represent BGCTM professionally to the community.
  • Must be willing to express ideas with the accounting team to formulate best financial practices for the Club.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to produce and provide data/reports in a timely manner.
  • Must be reliable and punctual to meet deadlines for assigned tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Able to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite and other similar software.

Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience preferred.
