Job Description

Job Summary

An assembly technician is responsible for taking the various finished SIP panels that are required to build a casita and assembling them in the proper order using an overhead crane and hardware. An assembly technician should understand the different types of SIP panels and where they belong, they must also maintain and organize panel libraries as needed and collaborate with other teams to create the finished product. An assembly technician must possess and utilize problem solving skills to understand and correct any fitment issues that may arise with panels. The assembly technician will also be responsible for managing his inventory and tools and reporting shortages or tool needs to his lead as well as ensuring the necessary components required for packing the unit are ready and in place.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identifying & organizing SIP panels, hardware & materials.
  • Ability to read & understand prints & drawings.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Maintain a clean & safe work environment.
  • Follow instructions & collaborate with leadership & supervision.
  • Must be willing & able to strictly follow processes and policies.
  • Must be willing & able to adapt to quick changes to process, equipment, and material.

Required Education and Experience

  • General labor and/or construction. (1 Year minimum)
  • Knowledge & experience using hand & power tools. (1 Year minimum)

Preferred Education and Experience

  • General labor and/or construction. (2 Years)
  • Knowledge & experience using hand & power tools. (2 Years)
  • Carpentry experience. (2 years)
  • Crane operator. (2 years)
  • (2 years)
  • Forklift operator. (2 years)

Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Hand & Power Tools: Knowledge using basic hand and power tools such as drills, table saws,

miter saws, sanders, screwdrivers, pry bars, hammers, tape measures, squares, levels, etc.

  • Communications and collaboration: Communicate and collaborate with department lead & zone supervisor. Also collaborating with other trades in the work area.
  • Organizational skills: Organize and keep track of tools & materials.
  • Writing: Basic writing skills to fill out requests or reports as needed.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills, inputting data into excel and filling out forms.
  • Problem Solving: Possess and utilize basic problem-solving skills to identify & solve issues that may arise outside of normal job elements.
  • Measuring Skills: Must be able to read a tape measure down proficiently and accurately to a 32nd of an inch, must be able to read a square and level and ensure all workpieces are held to a high-quality standard.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Must be able to move freely and travel from workstation to units carrying tools and material.
  • Must be able to identify & organize tools and material.
  • Must be able to constantly move and lift tools & materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts containing SIP panels daily.
  • May require bending and reaching in areas from floor level to six feet high.
  • Must be able to climb and work off ladders daily.
  • Must be able to walk & stand on feet for long periods of time 8-10 hours daily.
  • Requires the ability to distinguish letters or symbols and eye/hand coordination.
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment where the noise level is usually moderate to high.
  • Work may require some weekend and evening work. No travel is expected. No remote work available currently.
