Bowie Baysox is Hiring a Public Relations Assistant Near Bowie, MD

The Bowie Baysox, Double-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles in Minor League Baseball, are seeking candidates for a Public Relations Assistant for the 2023 season. Please review the qualifications below fully and carefully and apply if you meet the requirements.

The Baysox are seeking candidates who, preferably, have prior sports media and communications experience.

Start Date: Approximately March 1, 2023 (Flexible)

End Date: End of the season, approximately Mid-September, 2023

Requirements:

· Candidate should not be enrolled in classes (or be available for a full-time seasonal position) for the duration of time between March 1, 2023 through September 30, 2023. It is preferred that the candidate receives credit for their role.

· Proficiency with:

o Microsoft Office Applications (Microsoft Excel preferred)

o Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects)

o Basic social media concepts

· Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

· This position requires someone to work long hours at certain periods over the year which includes nights, weekends and some holidays.

· Effective time management skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Public Relations:

· Assist manager in coordination of a high-level Public Relations and Media Relations plan for our marketplace that includes two high-level markets in the Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD.

· Assist in handling all baseball information related items including but not limited to: daily creation of Daily Game Notes, updating and printing of rosters, printing and distribution of Stat Packs daily.

· Assist with coordinating inbound media inquiries for interviews and general coverage.

· Maintain the Baysox Press Box, including cleanliness, organization, and seating for visiting media members.

Marketing:

· Assist in writing team, player, and baseball related stories for team marketing materials on a timely basis.

· Update in-stadium signage to reflect that day’s game. (Lineup board, standings board, statistics board, etc.)

· Routinely look for innovative ways to promote team and other events hosted at the stadium.

· Assist with community relations and marketing initiatives throughout the season, as needed.

Production and Gameday:

· Execute social media posts including game updates, broadcast highlights, and other video content during home games.

· Fill-in camera operations including broadcast and stadium.

· Facilitate and assist members of the media and general press box needs.

· Fill-in broadcaster as needed during home schedule (based on prior play by play experience)

· Fill-in coordinator of MiLB.TV live streams.

· Assist in the planning, creating, and executing content needs for broadcasts including sponsorship content, in-house marketing content, recorded spots, live reads, in-game guests, etc.

Other duties as assigned by manager(s).

This is a seasonal position, and a monthly stipend will be paid to the hired candidate.
