Position Purpose:
Provides professional and technical support in the management all operating systems and end-user software; supports all communications and connection solutions; requires organization and initiative in the application of prescribed policies, procedures, and methods.

Recommended Minimum Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science required; Master’s Degree preferred. Three to five (3 - 5) years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the public sector working with local government. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience. SSCP, CISSP, MCSA, MOS or similar certifications a plus.
Knowledge, Ability and Skill:
Knowledge: Knowledge of complex IT protocol and procedures; working knowledge of computers, computer systems, and MS Office applications; working knowledge of departmental policies and procedures; strong aptitude to learn and implement new procedures.
Ability: Communicate effectively and tactfully with customers; compose correspondence; prioritize and complete multiple tasks at one time with frequent interruptions; operate a computer with intermediate skills when using software programs; manage databases and other software as required by the position; maintain and create spreadsheets and records; use telephone system.
Skill: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong customer service skills; strong organizational skills; skills in all of the above listed tools and equipment.
Physical Requirements:

Moderate physical effort required to perform work; frequent bending, crouching and reaching required for such tasks as moving and installing computer hardware and related office equipment. Tasks involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation, which include operating a keyboard at an efficient speed. This position is frequently required to sit, communicate, and hear, is occasionally required to walk, and must be able to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds. Vision and hearing at or correctable to normal ranges.
Supervision:
Supervision Scope: Performs various duties requiring a thorough knowledge of departmental operations and the ability to complete assigned tasks according to established procedures and protocol.
Supervision Received: Works under the general direction of the Director, IT Security, generally sets own daily work plan while following outlined procedures and tasks; escalates issues as necessary to supervisor.
Supervision Given: None.
