Boston Financial Investment Management is Hiring a Financial Data Analyst Near Boston, MA

PURPOSE & JOB SUMMARY As a Financial Data and Reporting Analyst you will be part of a high performing team responsible for financial mapping, input, and review of New Deals. You will conduct the Cash Calc waterfalls and timeline and manage debt summary and loan documents for all processes related to the Asset Management and Fund Management of our portfolio of approximately 2,200 properties. You will also collaborate with a broad range of colleagues in various departments across the company, including Fund and Asset Management Teams, Acquisitions, IT, and others to ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual process and reporting cycle deliverables are met timely and accurately. You will research problem issues, proactively manage the calendar, you will deploy a continuous improvement mindset to implement system and procedural enhancements that further enable individual, team, and company goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Key Responsibilities Perform financial mapping for Asset Management and ensure the Portfolio Accounting Team has just-in-time data regarding any changes. Conduct the monthly, quarterly, and annual property financial statements input process, performing quality checks on all financial inputs. Work with the Acquisitions Team to input newly acquired deals into the Asset Management system and present the Development Risk Team, Fund Management, and Portfolio Accounting Team with analysis of the deals. Review loan documents and identify key debt restrictions. Conduct annual property cash analysis and work with the Cash Calc Leadership Team to update and enhance the Cash Calc system. Review and process checks received for Asset Management fees and surplus cash distributions for all properties. May help train new Asset Managers and Analysts on the financial mapping tool and related processes. Review team business processes to identify and resolve inefficiencies, improve workflow, and update relevant documentation Work with IT on updates and enhancements to the financial mapping tool to make sure all refinements are reflected in various aligned applications. Develop, enhance, and implement the various systems used by the Investment Management Resource Team. Ensures team equipment is in good working order by completing preventive maintenance requirements and evaluating new equipment and techniques. May perform special projects as needed. STAKEHOLDERS This position has frequent contact with all levels of employees and management, including Asset Management, Acquisitions Team, Capital Transactions Team, Development Risk Team, IT Team, and other cross-department function staff. In addition, this role may interact with temporary contractors and other office visitors. EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, real estate or related field, preferred 1– 2 years related financial experience, preferred Experience in real estate/finance in the low-income housing tax credit or multifamily housing industry, preferred Interest in affordable housing, Low Income Tax credit (LIHTC) investments, is desired Familiarity with Partnership Tax Returns, Financial Statements, and Partnership Agreements, preferred Solid knowledge of financial statements and reporting, cash flow, income and balance sheets, etc. Familiarity with basic financial modeling techniques, a plus Ability to engage and communicate effectively with others regarding financial and technical matters Ability to apply effective problem-solving approaches and collaborate with others to identify root-causes and resolve issues in a timely manner. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills Ability to summarize and communicate observations clearly and timely (in writing, PowerPoint presentations, and verbally) in an organized, engaging, concise manner, and make recommendations, where appropriate Ability to develop and present effective documentation and training presentations to inform team and other department staff and others Highly collaborative and self-directed with the ability to work independently as well as part of a high performing team. Ability to anticipate, pivot, adapt, and remain professional through sometimes tense situations Ability to apply effective problem-solving approaches and collaborate with others to identify root-causes and resolve issues in a timely manner. Deploys a continuous improvement mindset to implement system and procedural enhancements that further enable individual, team, and company goals Strong proficiency with MS Excel required, including a solid understanding of commonly used Excel formulas and the ability to effectively clean, sort, and filter data Basic proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. MS Access proficiency, a plus Highly proficient in the use of Skype, Zoom, and other communication apps. Solid understanding of data resources, tools, and business processes for reporting and analysis.
