Job purpose BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a “dynamic, results-driven” individual to join as a Lead Systems Engineer, Power Electronics Systems. The Lead Systems Engineer, Power Electronics Systems will be primarily responsible for leading the analysis/synthesis, development, allocation, and management of technical requirements for BorgWarner power electronics products. In addition, they will perform the system design, analysis, integration, and test of power electronics systems to ensure compliance to customer and internal requirements. The Systems Engineer, Power Electronics Systems will ensure BorgWarner’s power electronics products are properly specified and designed with balanced requirements and validated to customer requirements. Key responsibilities Perform requirements analysis & management, systems architecture & design, systems integration & verification and requirements documentation Ensure the logical, systematic decomposition and transformation of customer and internal requirements into achievable product requirements. Develop a total systems solution with balanced requirements meeting schedule, technical and cost constraints Work with the BorgWarner program team to allocate requirements and perform the verification of those requirements to the enterprise competencies Keep BorgWarner team informed and aware of changes to customer requirements and specifications Support BorgWarner product development team with technical design analysis, trade off studies, FMEAs, design reviews and customer presentations Interpret Functional Safety (ISO 26262) requirements for the product development team Understand the vehicle system components and functions that interface to the power electronics subsystem Work with Application Engineers to investigate vehicle systems issues Work with other engineering competencies, suppliers, and partners to ensure proper development, execution and verification of system products Focal point of system project’s technical discussions with cross-competency team, management and customers using highly effective communication and facilitation skills and techniques Determines best techniques/procedure and applies for analysis, design, or experimental procedures Documents and shares best-practices Willingness/ability to travel 20% both domestically and internationally What we’re looking for BS Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required Minimum 5-8 years experience required in one or some combination of the following areas: preference will be given to candidates with 8 years of experience Automotive electronics product development Power Electronics, specifically motor drive inverters Systems Engineering Automotive electrical system experience preferred Power Electronics hardware and/or software design experience preferred Excellent analytical and problem solving skills (Shainin or Six Sigma training a plus) Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong product engineering experience and working knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities. Engineering experience in a manufacturing industry. Understanding of how engineering interrelates with other functions in the organization. Strong knowledge base of engineering theories related to designated engineering function and applies those theories to a variety of complex tasks and situations. Good knowledge base of engineering theories (in different specialties). Ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively.
