About the Role

Boom is seeking a Senior UX Designer to create immersive, innovative, and distinctive digitally-centered product experiences. You will be a part of a multi-disciplinary design team led by the Director of Product Design, where you will work collaboratively and cross-functionally in a fast-paced, highly creative, and challenging environment to design, prototype, and deliver world-class human-centered design solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess a highly-refined sense of visual design (typography, color, layout), with extensive experience developing and delivering static and motion-based digital assets, pixel-perfect UI screens, as well as scrappy mockups and prototypes that delight users while solving tangible needs. 

The ability to work selflessly, multi-disciplinarily, iteratively, and to respond constructively to ongoing feedback is critical to success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Director of Product Design and Passenger Product Experience team to design compelling digital experiences based on understanding passengers’ needs and the design vision for Overture
  • Translate user insights and design direction into tangible concepts
  • Create sketches, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes to communicate UX concepts and scenarios, interactions, and design ideas at a variety of fidelities, and at speed
  • Build iterative digital mockups and click-through prototypes for user testing and evaluation at multiple fidelities to test isolated touchpoints and holistic experiences 
  • Contribute to defining Boom’s UX strategy, digital user experience, and design system
  • Deliver appropriate design quality within budget and project parameters
  • Set a standard of quality by delivering best-in-class design work

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 8 years UX or Interaction Design experience in a design studio, creative consultancy, or similar
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant design discipline, or equivalent training
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating elevated visual design skills, technical proficiency, aesthetic sensibility, and demonstrating the ability to work through team dynamics, feedback, and tight deadlines to deliver exceptional design work
  • Fluent in a variety of visual and interactive design and prototyping tools, e.g. Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma, ProtoPie or equivalent
  • Experience building low and high fidelity “looks like” and “works like” prototypes, at speed
  • Self-motivated and able to work productively without supervision 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication and presentation skills
  • Able to communicate the value of design within the context of the business, and provide an articulate rationale for specific design decisions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work with and produce video and motion graphics
  • Experience with AR and VR prototyping tools and workflows (Cinema 4D, Unreal, Unity, Harmony, etc.)
  • 3D design and renderings skills are a strong plus
  • Hardware prototyping experience (Arduino, sensors, actuators, 3D printing, etc.)
  • Brand and graphic design experience is a strong plus
  • Aviation or transportation design experience is a plus

Location

This role can be hybrid or remote

Compensation

The Base Salary Range for this position is $161,000 - $185,000. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Boom’s total rewards package for employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives/equity, an open PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
