The Boca Raton is Hiring a Director of Group Sales Near Boca Raton, FL

As the Director of Group Sales at The Boca Raton, this candidate will direct and manage the group team and focus on the maximization of group and event revenue potential for the resort. This candidate specializes in selling group including all revenue streams (rooms, spa, programming, F&B) with the global group market. It is pivotal that this candidate has experience as a proven sales director that prides themselves on team development, peer relationships and knowledgeable strategies to grow and develop business.

The Director of Group Sales retains an important peer role on the property Leadership Team and is present on site inspiring the sales and team. This position hires, trains, and manages and coach group sales and their responsibilities. The best candidate has a passion for direct sales and prides themselves on their communication skills and attention to detail. With a proven track record of revenue-growing sales tactics, the ideal candidate has experience selling all segments of the group market with four and five star resorts.

The ideal candidate is engaging and comfortable giving presentations in front of clients and stakeholders. Expert business responsibilities include: team coaching, management of sales expenses, analyzing data reports, establishing yearly goas and forecasting group production, managing lead and tentative pipeline, managing the client/lead database and extensive experience with Delphi.

This position will report directly to the Chief Sales Officer. In addition to managing team efforts, the Director of Group Sales also has a sales goal to manage personally with a quota responsibility. This position works closely with the Director of Catering and Revenue Management in order to maximize profits and align on space use.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to demonstrate a proactive approach to sales and be a dynamic sales professional who will positively impact our business and clearly understand the Boca Raton clientele
  • Maximize total hotel revenue, including room revenue and banquet.
  • Maximize segmentation mix and develop business from existing channels while creating new business development opportunities
  • Manage strong relationships with senior stakeholders - internally and externally
  • Ability to implement structure to maximize productivity
  • Passion for direct sales in the group segment developing new business, solicitation & prospecting, and acquisition of key accounts will be implemental for this role
  • Strong relationship builder across internal and external clients, and other market and industry sources
  • Plan, organize, and host familiarization, client events, team roadshows, and entertainment
  • Working closely with Sales leadership and property General Managers to develop and implement strategies to maximize business
  • Oversight of strategic annual plans by segment and focusing on new business research, solicitation, prospecting, and acquisition will be a large part of this role in collaboration for the entire Sales & Events team
  • This is a resort based position with limited travel and daily presence required in order to direct and lead the group sales team.

Qualifications

  • University degree or diploma qualification in Sales or Marketing and/or Hospitality or Tourism Management
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience within a 4-5 star hotel sales environment with a focus on the group market
  • Understands that the resort clientele may vary from traditional hotels in regards to target audiences, size of group and intention of visit.
  • Excellent emotional intelligence
  • A self-starter who is highly driven, solutions orientated, persistent and adaptable to change
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, relationship management and networking abilities
  • A proven track record in achieving targets and yield management
  • A collaborative and motivating leader of others with a strategic and analytical focus
  • Ability to recognize trends and shift strategy to maximize results
  • Extended understanding of P&L, revenue management procedures and KPI measurements
  • Ability to identify unique selling points to separate experiences from the competition
  • Passion for direct sales and willingness to jump in to assist to develop relationships and close business

Education/Experience Requirements

Four-year college degree preferred; additional/advanced degree coursework in business administration, marketing and revenue management a plus.
