Viaero Fiber Networks has an opportunity for a Utility Locator to join our team based in the Commerce City/Aurora area. If you enjoy working outdoors year around, can perform physically demanding tasks, can travel, have a strong eye for detail and desire long-term/stable work with overtime opportunities, this is a great job for you! On-the-job training can be provided. 

As a Utility Locator you will assist in preventing damage to our network and disruption of service to our customers. As a Utility Locator your job will be to locate, identify and mark underground utilities before and during contractor construction. 

What you’ll do: 

• Perform accurate and safe locating of underground utilities, including telecommunications cable/fiber
• Prioritize and plan activities in order to ensure maximum efficiency and timely completion of locates.
• Read and understand locate tickets and the ticketing system
• Communicate with other Team members and have strong communication with Contractors and homeowners. 
• Be on-call, as needed, for emergency Locates, which can include evenings, weekends, holidays.
• Drive to job site in various locations throughout various construction projects in Central Nebraska and surrounding areas.

How you know if you qualify:  

• You are at least 21 years old and have a valid Nebraska driver's license (or ability to obtain quickly)
• You’re able to pass all pre-employment checks, including substance screen, criminal background, and motor vehicle record checks
• You’re able to perform manual tasks requiring frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, walking & standing for long periods 
• You’re comfortable working in an environment requiring changing plans/directions
• You’re proficient with a computer and are quick to learn new technology
• You can lift up to 75 pounds 
• You can work year-round outside in all elements 
• You can travel as needed, including overnights, if location warrants
• You have a strong attention to detail and a desire to excel
• Passion for accuracy and a keen eye for detail
• Ability to work on your own with strong time management skill.
• Ability to interact professionally with people with different skill sets and backgrounds
