  • IT Structured Cabling Technician Job Description
  • Job Responsibilities:  Pulling, termination, testing and labeling of Cat 5e and Cat 6 cable  Build out MDF/IDFs  Installation of Wireless Access Points (WAPs)  Install J Hooks, D-rings, cable tray, and other supports.  Run fiber optic cable, terminating fiber ends (SC, ST, LC) efficiently and to industry, manufacturer and AFL standards.  Read blueprints
  • Requirements:  Must have 2 years of experience in the installation of cabling associated with: Telecom Systems, TCP/IP Networks, CCTV Security, Access control & Wireless Solutions.  Ability to climb ladders and hang cable in awkward spaces. Able to work from boom/scissor lifts.  Strong knowledge of industry standards.  Must possess a clean driving record and be able to pass a drug screen.  Please list certifications if any. Manufacture certifications or a good knowledge of industry products. List Certifications if any
  • Responsibilities:  Maintain a clean, neat, professional appearance... Wearing the company uniform during all project related duties unless specifically directed otherwise by a superior.  Traveling to client sites to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve Telecommunications and Data/IT equipment issues as well as equipment maintenance.  Ability to perform all component and system testing.  Ability to complete the tasks assigned in a timely manner.  Ability to understand basic wiring diagrams and installation instructions. Ability to complete the tasks assigned in a timely manner.  Ability to assure that all team members reporting to you complete their assigned tasks in a timely manner.  Ability to complete Telecommunication Room build-outs including rack construction, ladder rack installation, wire management and backboard construction.  Ability to articulate the differences and similarities in the testing requirements for the different categories of copper media (Category 5e, Category 6, etc.).  Ability to configure and set-up test equipment to perform all required tests on each category of copper media using a variety of manufacturer test equipment.  Ability to perform and document optical attenuation tests on single mode and multimode optical strands
  •  Ability to configure, operate and analyze test data from Optical Time Domain Reflectometers.  Must understand the National Electrical Code and Local Building Codes as they apply to low voltage to ensure that no violations are being performed on assigned projects.  Ability to ground and bond all applicable components according to Project Scope of Work, Local and National Codes and Industry Standards.  Technicians must possess the desire and ability to train other Technicians
  • Ideal Candidates will have: AV, IT & Physical Security technical knowledge a plus, including prior hands-on experience with installations, programming, and servicing of said systems. Familiarity with electrical and networking infrastructure. The ability to work independently, with little oversight The candidate must complete all required training requirements for this position. This may include on-site familiarization training with our install team. Be able to climb stairs and access construction projects where uneven and cluttered conditions may exist
