You will work on a small, agile team that designs and creates new software systems and enhances existing tool sets. The ideal candidate has experience in mobile application development, experience with secure coding, a proactive nature, and strong communication skills to work with distributed teams. We offer the flexibility of a hybrid work environment of remote and in office work.

Responsibilities

• Support mission critical programs by designing novel solutions
• Design and document software architectures
• Proactively communicate with developers and management
• Proactively improve team processes and cross-functional teamwork within BlueHalo Labs project lifecycle
• Proactively collaborate with team on design, security, and implementation discussions
• Design, write, and unit test software for our Android applications

Qualifications

• US Citizen
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience analyzing, designing, and coding software solutions
• At least 2 years of experience writing Java/Kotlin applications
• Experience with offline storage and threading
• Comfortable writing code that interacts with a webserver, and troubleshooting issues
• Ability and strong motivation to learn new tools, techniques, and methodologies
• Curious about learning new technologies and methodologies
• Takes initiative in finding creative, elegant solutions
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Other requirements may exist based upon project or customer needs

Preferred Experience:

• Thorough understanding of Software Development Life Cycle and Agile
• Experience with the following capabilities:
  • Java, Kotlin, Python programming languages
  • Creating modern user interfaces
  • Working collaboration tool suites (e.g., Confluence, GitLab, Rocketchat)
  • Testing tools, frameworks, and techniques (e.g., Junit, Espresso, Mockito, Robolectric)
  • Source control systems (e.g., git)
  • Continual integration tools (e.g., Gitlab, Jenkins, Gradle, Maven, Ant)
  • Working with a small to midsize development team (2-10 engineers)
  • Working integrating with a complete stack
  • Secure coding
  • Geographic Information Systems
  • Photography
  • Experience with RxJava
