Responsibilities

BlueHalo is seeking a Receiving Inspector to become a part of a dynamic Quality team, reporting directly to the Quality Manager. This person will hold the role in the inspection and disposition parts and equipment that comprise a number of high-tech programs at BlueHalo’s Albuquerque site. The candidate will perform Inspection of purchased parts and materials for conformity to standards, specifications, and processing requirements as materials are received from external providers. This person: 1) Determines, or assist in determining, methods, sequences, and procedures necessary for inspection. 2) Works from released drawings, procedures, and specifications; 3) Adapts inspection measuring devices and procedures where necessary. Candidate would be required to communicate between multiple departments, and report key information to stakeholders in a timely manner. Must be dedicated to the quality function and possess a drive and commitment to enhance the quality of both the product and processes.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications and perform inspections using tools such as micrometers, gauges, etc.
  • Visually inspects for obvious defects or damage such as corrosion, cracks, dents, scratches, and pits
  • Verifies specifications using purchase orders, drawing or inspection instructions, and checklists
  • Inspections may involve compound angles or three-dimensional projections using inspection equipment such as microscopes, micrometers, telescope gauges, and optical comparators
  • Perform visual and functional final inspection of incoming product and devices
  • Perform review of documentation requirements such as Certificate of Conformance, Test, Dimensional and review and acceptance of AS9102 First Article Inspection documentation
  • Prepare inspection reports regarding conformance and initiate non-conformance reports when needed
  • Process material in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
  • Manage discrepant material and interface with internal/external stakeholders to successfully resolve non-conforming material issues
  • Perform inspection under magnification of Printed Circuit Boards to verify workmanship and acceptability requirements per IPC (Association Connecting Electronics Industries), J-STD (Joint Standard) and NASA
  • Monitor GIDEP reports to ensure counterfeits parts do not enter inventory
  • Create discrepancy reports for suspect or identified counterfeit parts
  • Identify bottlenecks, process gaps, etc. and select continuous improvement projects to improve quality and/or efficiency
  • Review and comprehend engineering and program requirements
  • Coordinate tests for electrical and mechanical properties and prohibited material analysis
  • Perform First Article Inspections, incoming inspections, final inspections
  • Identify, report, and quarantine non-conforming material
  • Apply sampling principles to material inspections
  • Communicate with internal customers and suppliers to resolve inspection discrepancies
  • Use electronic ERP system to route parts and components to proper departments
  • Be able to adapt to the use of new equipment and learn new product
  • Perform other related duties and be flexible in the factory plant as assigned or business need
  • Generate and perform Verification activities on Non-Conforming Material Reports.
  • Perform First Article Inspections as required.
  • Exposure to machine, electronic and componentry is desired

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Receiving Inspection
  • ERP and MRP system experience
  • Familiar with ESD, and proper material handling procedures
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Understanding of AS9100 and Supply Chain activities.
  • Training Certification to IPC, J-STD and NASA.
  • Experience with use of metrology tools and gauges
  • Experience within the aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, or electronic fields
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Basic computer skills, use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience using GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauge, etc.) and/or electronic inspection measurement tools (e.g., voltmeter)
  • Previous experience with QA inspection process and techniques
  • Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, aerospace certifications, and test reports
  • Experience receiving packages, data entry, organizing, and scanning documentation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiar with ISO & AS Quality Management Systems
