Blue Sky eLearn is hiring a QA Engineer to help with our QA effort, follow best practices, and promote quality on our flagship product, Path LMS!

As a QA Engineer, you’ll bring technical expertise, user focus, and an investigative mindset to improve product quality, follow and create new policies and procedures, and help ship a high quality learning management system utilized by hundreds of professional associations. You have a passion for learning and developing new skills while working closely with engineering, product, and customer-facing teams throughout the product life cycle. You plan methodically, act proactively, and scrutinize relentlessly to ensure our product meets exacting standards of usability, functionality, and polish.

You will be empowered with creative control around automating efforts to minimize risk and refine features in development. You’ll collaborate directly with product managers and software engineers to plan and execute testing strategies using the newest web technologies.

Responsibilities

• Participate in project scoping and planning, including shaping and estimating of project tasks with an eye and focus on quality assurance.
• Help product owners and engineers define understandable and testable user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Communicate proactively with the team and help map out risks and edge cases during planning stages and feature iterations.
• Develop and execute test plans, test design, test objectives, and test cases
• Test, automate, and maintain manual and automated regression suites.
• Investigate product quality in order to make improvements to achieve better customer satisfaction.
• Learn and adapt to new software, technologies, and testing strategies to improve the process.

Requirements

• 3-5 years experience as a quality assurance engineer with a focus on functionality testing, UI testing, and user-flow inspection.
• At least 1 year of dedicated QA experience on Ruby/Ruby on Rails web applications.
• Thorough knowledge of software best practices
• Experience with Git and a branch/pull-request flow.
• Experience working with, or an interest in Agile Methodologies and Scrum.
• An aptitude for software testing, a passion for quality, and a drive to improve client and end-user satisfaction.
• Experience with accessibility and performance testing and tools.
• Experience testing for cross browser and device compatibility, along with a strong understanding of differences in market share, versions, and functionality.
• Exceptional exploratory testing skills.
• Experience developing test plans and complexity/effort estimates.
• Excellent verbal, written, and meme based communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with deployments on Heroku/Amazon Web Services (or similar).
• Experience testing RESTful APIs using automated test tools.
• Experience with load testing applications.
• Knowledge and experience writing rspec feature and functional tests.
• Strong SQL skills, bonus for PostgreSQL optimization experience.
