Blue Ridge Power is Hiring a Project Controller Near Asheville, NC

Blue Ridge Power (BRP) is looking for an experienced Project Controller to join our Project Controls Team. We are looking for a candidate who is attentive to detail, a problem-solver and able to operate in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple assignments. This position will report to the Project Controls Manager and will be based in the Asheville, North Carolina office. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Assemble and analyze job cost reports tracking budget vs actual expenses to determine the final cost of a project. 
  • Conduct monthly meetings with Executives, Project Managers, PM Assistants and colleagues from other key departments to discuss the project’s progression and forecast cost to complete various scopes of work. 
  • Communicate with and support multiple project managers, construction team, accounting team and general operations.
  • Review purchase and change orders for accuracy, backup documentation and cost acceptability. 
  • Enter approved budgets, sales orders and subcontract agreements in accounting software.
  • Review and understand EPC agreements for projects. 
  • Assist with year-end audit and cost certification inquiries as requested.
  • Provide thorough cost-to-date information for Project Finance and Transaction Teams before financial closing events for projects. 
  • Other duties as assigned by Project Controls leadership.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate in a clean, concise, and effective manner with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Organized, diligent, and able to troubleshoot, problem-solve and prioritize.
  • Ability to work independently, raise issues and propose solutions for the broader team.
  • Experience with cost accounting.
  • Proficient in data entry and management.
  • Moderate working knowledge in Excel.

Nice-to-Haves 

  • Experience in the construction industry, preferably in solar or renewable energy.
  • Experience with Intacct, IFS, and/or HCSS HeavyJob.

Education and Certifications  

  • Three (3) plus years of cost accounting experience or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or other related major.

Working Environment and Physical Demand  

  • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk and utilize a computer, for extended periods of time.
  • Travel up to 10% to Fayetteville, Charlotte, and job sites when/if needed.
