The Medical Records Clerk is an integral member of the interdisciplinary health team and assumes responsibility for the proper scanning and filing of clinical information in the electronic health record system. Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for proper maintenance and processing of all medical records information throughout the organization.
- Responsible for pulling, filing, transferring, retrieving, creating, and scanning clinical and medical records information.
- Ensures clinical information is scanned at required timeframes/benchmarks to ensure proper patient care can be delivered.
- Processes incoming medical records for appointments and examines records for completeness before dispatch to clinic areas and/or scanning into the electronic health record, including by not limited to referral reports, laboratory reports, radiology reports, and hospital reports.
- Assists in the identification of unidentified patient information to ensure correct information is maintained in the electronic health record.
- As requested, locate and make electronic health information readily available, including information requested for audit and legal purposes.
What We're Looking For::
- High School diploma required
- Experience in medical records workflow and/or clerical duties, preferred
- Working knowledge of various computer programs including Microsoft Office
- Electronic Health Records experience working with medical records processing (preferred)
