As part of a unique and highly skilled team, you'll participate in building the road to space. You will join the Engines Finance team and partner with stakeholders in engineering, procurement, supply chain, and test operations to contribute to the growth and success of Blue Origin's BE-4 engine. In this hands-on role, you will drive performance improvement and predictability. We are seeking a proactive, detail- and service-oriented analyst with excellent financial skills, analytical ability, and interpersonal skills who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and handles ambiguity with confidence.
You will be responsible for the financial management of the BE-4 Engine Production program and serve as an operational partner. This role will provide critical financial insights and analysis to business leaders and key stakeholders. You'll help build the scalable financial processes and tools to support growth and efficiency within the organization. Responsibilities:
- Support the BE-4 Production monthly and quarterly reporting cycles, including month-end close process, monthly forecast preparation, and quarterly Estimates-at-Complete (EAC), as well as Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Multi-Year Plan (MYP) formulation. Present reporting at functional management reviews to ensure business leaders are apprised of program financial health and KPIs.
- Implement an integrated business planning approach with key stakeholders, particularly Supply Chain; partner with Supply Chain and Operations Finance to ensure robust supply forecasting and inventory planning for scheduled engine builds.
- Analyze production and material cost elements and profitability variance drivers, including production cycle times, material quantities, purchasing prices, supplier competitive sourcing, headcounts, scrap rates, touch vs support labor, etc.; identify and quantify root cause, risks and opportunities, and remediation actions.
- Support forecasting of key performance indicators (KPIs), including spend and resource requirements, such as headcount, capital, and operating expenses. Compile, analyze, and interpret financial reports that indicate trends, variances, risks, and opportunities associated with operational spend, capital investment, and inventories.
- Work side by side with BE-4 Production stakeholders to strengthen and streamline production finance reporting processes and systems. Identify gaps, propose and drive improvements by developing automated applications for data aggregation and reporting to drive engine unit-cost reductions.
- Lead special projects that support management decision-making, such as capital expenditure, inventory, and what-if analyses.
- Analyze COGS to convey cost evolution and variations for production inputs, including purchase parts, tooling, labor, and shipping costs. Support reviews and updates of Bill of Materials (BOM) with operations and product cost model team.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in business, finance, accounting, or analytical field
- 3 years' experience in manufacturing environment required; 5 years preferred
- 5 years of financial analysis experience, to include preparing annual and multi-year plans, month-end close activities, forecasting and variance analysis, and preparing ad-hoc financial reports and models.
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills
- Advanced Excel proficiency
- Experience with SQL querying and data mining across diverse data sets
- Experience with Tableau preferred
- Understanding of underlying business processes and the impact of financial decisions
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
