Blue Ocean Mariculture is the exclusive producer of Hawaiian Kanpachi, a premium sashimi-grade fish coveted by chefs at top sushi and fine dining restaurants everywhere. Hawaiian Kanpachi are raised in the clear, clean waters off Kona, Hawaii using the most environmentally sustainable farming methods.

If so, our Marketing Director position may be a perfect fit. The ideal candidate has experience in food & beverage branded product marketing communications, event coordination, demand generation and social media platforms. You will lead an effort to share the story of the Hawaiian Kanpachi brand with fine dining restaurants, celebrity chefs, large premium food service companies and specialty grocers, as well as messaging direct to consumers.

The Marketing Director is responsible for imagining, creating, and executing all aspects of Blue Ocean Mariculture's marketing programs, including promotional events with chefs & restaurants and digital media efforts. You will work closely with the sales team to help define and manage our national and Hawaii marketing strategies. You will also be an exciting and effective voice of the Company bringing enthusiasm and impeccable judgement to interactions with partners, restaurants, chefs, distributors, and the media.

What You’ll Do

  • Identify, develop, and execute promotional opportunities by writing, preparing, and delivering information about the organization through press releases and other PR opportunities.
  • Plan, implement, and lead promotional events, including farm tours, community outreach, food festivals and celebrity chef events.
  • Working with our team, create thought leadership articles on fresh seafood culinary topics and sustainable offshore aquaculture practices.
  • Working alone or with others, develop and manage Blue Ocean Mariculture’s social media strategy, editorial calendar, and content.
  • Measure and report on marketing program performance across all channels and target audiences.
  • Manage creative vendors to produce high quality digital and print.
  • Work with the sales team to drive demand generation initiatives.
  • Work with the team to keep our brand messaging current, consistent and focused.
  • Work with the team to define and execute marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Work with the sales team and partner distributors to enhance their sales effectiveness and reach.
  • Represent the Company and develop relationships with restaurants and chefs in order to generate sales for the sales team.
  • Manage the annual marketing budget, including monthly reconciliation and quarterly forecasting.
  • Some travel may be required to support programs.

What You’ll Bring

  • An excellent presenter with experience communicating with and presenting to a diverse group of stakeholders including customers, peers, media, and others!
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, advertising, business, or 8 years of marketing communications experience. Food marketing experience preferred.
  • Professional & effective oral, written and listening communication skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google products.
  • Well-organized and proactive, with ability to prioritize multiple tasks with minimal guidance.
  • Confidence to interact directly with high profile chefs and media outlets.
  • Experience managing content and social media activities in a corporate or agency environment.
  • Experience with WordPress, mainstream social media platforms, Google Analytics preferred.
  • Desire to make a positive impact on sustainable food production and ocean health.

Additional Preferences

  • Current resident of Hawaii (Big Island/Kailua Kona).
  • Work experience in a branded products company in Marketing.
  • Experience in a high-growth, fast paced work environment.
  • Passion for Hawaii, seafood, environmental issues with world’s oceans, accomplished with the spirit of Aloha.
  • Excellent writing skills.
