Based on our continuing growth, and the increasing value our team is producing in partnership with our customers, we are growing our data engineering team and are looking for someone to lead this effort with us.
Data Engineering Manager

As a Data Engineering Manager at BHI, you will work directly with stakeholders and technical partners to design and implement cutting edge data solutions that provide actionable insights to the business. You will be responsible for evolving our long-term roadmap of projects, defining tech stack & operational strategies. This role will also identify opportunities to leverage big data technologies as well as design, build and maintain our growing data warehouse and analytical reporting environment for BHI.

This role will lead a team of data engineers, provide technical leadership, drive data engineering initiatives, and build end-to-end data solutions that are highly available, scalable, stable, secure, and cost-effective. This includes developing the data architecture components that scales for the ever-evolving data needs while working with a wide range of data technologies and stay abreast of emerging technologies, investigating, and implementing where appropriate.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with business and tech stakeholders to develop roadmap and product requirements
• Identify internal/external data sources to design and implement data structure, data products, ETL strategy and scalable data pipelines.
• Lead teams to design and develop scalable data warehousing solutions, building ETL pipelines in big data environments (cloud, on-prem, hybrid)
• Define and maintain data architecture, focusing on applying technology to enable business solutions. Assess and provide recommendations on business relevance, with appropriate timing and deployment
• Perform architecture design, data modeling, and implement big data platforms and analytic applications
• Lead the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines in production
• Lead with a DevOps mindset to enable big data and batch/real-time analytical solutions that leverage emerging technologies
• Help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers
• Driving the vision for BI and Data Warehousing across a product vertical, and defining and executing on a plan to achieve that vision
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Architects and Data Engineers to design, implement, and deliver successful data solutions
• Ensure high operational efficiency and quality of your solutions to meet SLAs and support commitment to our customers (Data Science, Data Analytics teams)
• Communicate cross-functionality and provide constructive feedback into how the product is designed and help craft solutions to difficult user experience and system integrations problems
• Manage resources including mentoring and looking for ways to upskill and reskill current team members

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline
• 7 years of experience as a Data Engineer Manager
• Experience in building and managing Data engineering team to build products and/or infrastructure required to support the products at scale
• Experience in leading large-scale data warehousing and analytics projects, including using cloud-based technologies (AWS big data technologies preferred)
• Experience in designing implementing data management, data privacy and data storage principles
• Strong background of data modeling principles including dimensional modeling, data normalization principles etc.
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Proven success in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy
• Experience in leading and influencing data architecture and strategy of your team or organization.
• Understanding of technical architectures, tooling needs, automation plans, product launch plans, and other issues and create comprehensive plans for prioritizing technical and resourcing challenges
• Strong in SQL and Python, with 3 years of hands-on coding experience with both
• Experience with big data frameworks (i.e. Hadoop and Spark)
• Experience with cloud-based platforms (i.e. Azure, GCP, AWS)
• Experience with Snowflake and hands-on query tuning/optimization
• Experience with orchestrating pipelines using tools (i.e. Airflow, Azure Data Factory)
• Is familiar with SOC2 compliance and its impact on company policies and processes
• Understands importance of adhering to SOC2 requirements, and maintains an effort to do so
