Blue Canyon Technologies is Hiring a Software Engineer I Near Lafayette, CO

Position Purpose: Blue Canyon Technologies currently has an opportunity for a Software Engineer I to join our team. This position is responsible for all phases of software development from program inception to post launch support. The FSW engineer will collaborate with the other engineering disciplines on a regular basis (Electrical, FPGA, Guidance, Navigation and Control, Radio, Integration & Test) to ensure successful program execution and space craft launch. 

This position is based out of our Lafayette, Colorado office. Local area travel between Lafayette and Boulder may be required. Our values of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement drive our team to succeed every day.

Pay Range: $75,000-$105,000 

Location: Lafayette, CO

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture, requirements gathering, estimating, and planning
  • Daily work includes, designing, implementing, and testing of embedded software components to interface and control various peripherals such as radios, payloads, and heaters
  • Creation of technical documentation throughout the development process; includes customer facing presentations
  • Support problem resolution throughout all phases of the program (functional and system integration and test)
  • Development work is executed in a team environment spanning multiple programs
  • Daily collaboration with other engineering disciplines, project and program management to ensure milestones are on target
  • Building tools and contributing to analyses of various architectures that include cubesats and microsats, sensors, communications, and ground infrastructure; evolving or creating new approaches based on analysis results

Required Qualifications/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education
  • Up to 2 years of experience developing software for embedded systems, including the following skills:
    • Software design and diverse programming proficiency using C or C in an embedded real-time operating system (e.g. Linux, RTEMS, Ubuntu)
    • Programming experience with Ruby, Python, and/or Matlab
    • Working on multi-disciplinary design and development teams
    • Documenting software and presenting capabilities in design reviews
    • Testing, troubleshooting, diagnosing and fixing defects in software using debuggers, emulators, simulators and logic analyzers

Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.
