Blue Canyon Technologies is Hiring a Mechanical Engineer Intern Near Boulder, CO

Blue Canyon Technologies is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our BCT Summer in Space Internship program. Applicants must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university. In addition, applicants must be enrolled fall semester 2022. This will be a full-time position for the summer for approximately 10 weeks, starting at the end of May 2023.

Title: Mechanical Engineer Intern

Position Type: Summer Internship

Pay Range: $27.56 - $29.29 hour (Salary rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Location: Lafayette, CO or Boulder, CO

Job Responsibilities:

  • You will support the ME staff in the development of structures, mechanisms, and electrical assemblies for small spacecraft, ranging from CubeSat-sized (10 cm square) up to ESPA- class-sized (24 x 28 x 38 inches).
  • Working with our team of experienced mechanical and aerospace engineers you will help with creating drawings, designing assembly fixtures, writing assembly instructions, building bill of materials and other related tasks.
  • Interns pursuing advanced degrees will be exposed to more advanced design and analysis tasks as his/her experience allows.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree from a four-year university. Must be working towards a degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum coursework requirements are:
    • Materials Science (for engineers)
    • Mechanics of Materials
    • Computer Aided Design (SolidWorks or similar CAD program)
  • Strong ability to work in teams and collaborate with peers and internal customers
  • Strong analytical skills – comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative data
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly and effectively multi-task
  • Effective communication skills; comfortable working in a team environment; high energy and desire to learn.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through school or extracurricular projects
  • US work authorization required

Position Details:

  • 3-month paid internship
  • 40 hours per week
  • No relocation assistance

Working Conditions:This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filling cabinets and fax machines.

Specific vision abilities are required by this job which includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
