- Completion of grade 12, GED equivalency / high school diploma
- Experience of 1 or more years in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic or HVAC.
- Valid class “G” driver’s license.
- Related work experience and/or training in an industrial environment (food manufacturing, steel, paper, automotive would be viewed as an asset).
- Must have ability to safely lift 40-50lbs.
- Experience using mechanical or electrical hand tools or power tools.
- Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
- Job experience in repair and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and machines.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, electrical/mechanical background is considered an asset.
- Abide all safety, good manufacturing practices GMP and food safety policies.
- Perform facility and industrial maintenance and maintain clean and safe work area.
- Generate and complete work orders as assigned.
- Assist fully licensed tradesperson in performing repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Shift coverage, support to production team.
- Perform storeroom counts, clean, and organize the maintenance shop and working areas.
- Perform repairs to interior and exterior building components and equipment
- Perform inspection of equipment, preventive maintenance, and lubrication.
- Investigate leaks, roof, plumbing, building to be fixed or reported back to supervisor
- Investigate HVAC, mechanical or electrical problems.
- Safety check for avoiding breakdowns of equipment and stalling of productions.
- Responsible for startup of all equipment.
- Perform maintenance activities schedules to cover all tasks to be completed on a regular basis, plan for responding to emergency situations and production emergency calls.
- Practices regular preventative maintenance and upgrades as necessary, all technical services & components of the building including electrical systems, mechanical systems, energy management systems, fire alarm/safety systems, grounds, parking, renovation, etc.
- Is familiar with the location of how to control the supply of water, electricity, and gas.
- Performs general repairs to in house plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and HVAC.
- Able to troubleshoot machinery, follow and maintain a maintenance program.
- Reports work completed daily to supervisor.
- Some janitorial work inside/outside of the building.
- Responsible for keeping a daily log of maintenance activities, perform repairs and report to the maintenance supervisor and manager.
