Description

Bierman Autism Centers is a center-based ABA provider, where young children (2 to 9 years of age) engage in play to learn foundational skills they can build on, such as self-advocacy and communication. What is the Role of a Behavior Technician?

As a full-time & center-based Behavior Technician/ABA Therapist (RBT), you are using ABA Therapy to transform the lives of children (2 to 9 years of age), who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other development and language delays, while building a fun and creative culture. Our one-on-one approach is focused on natural play to teach foundational skills our kids can build on and every child’s success is unique! We continually challenge ourselves to do anything it takes to enable our kids to reach their potential on their terms.

What Can We Offer You as a Behavior Technician?

  • No experience? No problem! The first two weeks of employment are dedicated to Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) training at full pay and full-time hours. We also cover all costs associated with taking the RBT exam.
  • Full Time Hours: All Behavior Technicians work Full Time, Day shift hours from Monday – Friday: 8:15am – 4:45pm in the center. No travel required!

What Will You Do as a Behavior Technician?

  • Conduct 1:1 therapy with clients
  • Follow the prescribed skill acquisition and behavior support plan
  • Collect and record data
  • Write therapy note for each session using an electronic medical records system
  • Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding the client’s progress as instructed by the child’s assigned Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • Assist the BCBA in preparing and organizing client materials as instructed
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment
  • Maintain client safety and confidentiality
  • Maintain and acquire functional and technical knowledge by attending required trainings
  • Become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and follow the guidelines set forth by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
  • Contribute to a positive working environment

Requirements

Basic & Physical Requirements for a Behavior Technician:

  • Must be able to lift and carry clients who are least 30 pounds
  • Must be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport and utilize quick body movements as indicated in the Behavior Support Plan in the course of working with children with challenging behavior
  • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures including kneeling, squatting, crouching, crawling, sitting, standing, bending, for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk and run to chase clients and maintain a three-foot distance at all times
  • Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to attend to basic needs such as feeding, diapering, toileting, and dressing
  • Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection and session documentation
  • Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication though computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
  • Must be able to take written data and transfer to electronic files or data base systems
  • Must be able to maintain prolonged periods of working on a computer while sitting at a desk or on the floor
  • Must be able to assemble, clean and maintain therapy space including toys and furniture
  • Must be able to administer medication to clients

Experience:

  • Experience required: None!
  • Preferred: Experience working with children ages 2-12 in a classroom, day care or 1:1 setting, experience implementing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis; Educational or Allied Health.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Must hold minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective time management and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once
  • Detail oriented
  • Be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the team and clients
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism
  • Proficient with Google Suite
