Opportunity Summary

We are looking for a Safety Manager to provide overall responsibility for leading the Safety program in collaboration with all internal and external stakeholders, including JV Driver

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial safety regulations
• Performance monitoring and improvement of the Company Safety Program
• Managing the Recognition Certification program including the implementation of corrective actions and follow up
• Lead the accident investigation process and communications with appropriate stakeholders
• Effectively develop and implement programs, practices, and procedure to reduce the frequency and severity of safety accidents. 
• Establish a safety culture through safety training, risk assessments and compliance programs
• Information reporting, tracking systems and processes including incident reporting
• Conducting safety meetings, audits and inspections
• Liaise with regional safety boards and authorities or other external agencies as required to manage a positive and compliant safety program
• Provide injury analysis and compliance information to reduce the risks and cost associated with claims 
• Monitor and analyze safety trends and regulations and implementing programs designed to improve company results
• Manage the Modified Return to Work program
• Provide input into the proposal process and other business functions as required
• Hire, Manage coach and mentor the Construction Safety Team 
• Live and model the behaviors as aligned with BFL Value 

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years safety management and leadership experience in a construction environment and related post-secondary education
• Solid understanding of safety legislation and systems
• Strong communication skills 
• Ability to work in conjunction with Senior Management to provide corporate direction for the health and safety program
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build relationships, trust and commitment across all functional groups
• Possess strong leadership and conflict resolution skills
• Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Proven organizational skills and keen attention to detail
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
