The Soldering Technician position offers a Monday through Friday work week with regular office hours, a comprehensive benefit package including holiday pay, 401k, and paid-time off. The position is at an onsite, high-profile client location in beautiful Vancouver, Washington.

Responsibilities

• Works on complex assignments with minimal supervision, requiring significant judgment, initiative, and technical/specialized knowledge to resolve problems and/or recommend solutions.
• Performs testing tasks requiring strong analytical skills, interpretation of test cases and scripts, planning & scheduling of technical activities.
• Performs ad hoc/exploratory testing and defect characterization, writes clear and concise defect reports, and performs or directs test case maintenance.
• Ensures that all test activities are properly executed and reported & may suggest test directions.
• Has a strong understanding of all major aspects of computer HW and FW/SW & knowledge of multiple platforms.
• Flexibility to work in all the different HW labs to learn new skills and testing types.
• Familiar with all the activities of lower technician positions- may train and/or lead new techs.

Soldering/Assembly Skills to include:

• • Ability to read schematics and construct functional prototypes
  • Familiarity with BOMs and PCB layout diagrams
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and create custom cable
  • Ability to solder thru hole components of various types
  • Ability to solder and replace SMT chip components down to 0201 package size
  • Ability to solder and replace a variety of thru hole and SMT IC packages including QFN, QFP, FBGA, and packages with thermal pads
  • Ability to solder down to 0402 components, 0.5mm pitch ICs and connectors.
  • Ability to read schematics and familiarity with BOMs and PCB layout diagrams. Trace cut/blue wire reworks.
  • Ability to produce/repair cables which include proper wire sizing, crimping of wire terminals to wires and insertion/removal of terminal connections
  • Ability to modify existing electrical designs thru the use of etch cuts and jumper wires

Qualifications

• • Minimum 2-4 years’ solder experience required (skills required highlighted above), preferrably in a product development test environment.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are essential; including must be able to professionally and effectively communicate with varied levels of company/vendor/client employees.
  • The ability to accept constructive instruction/training and have the insight and ability to ask thoughtful and relevant questions.
  • Be able to work and troubleshoot independently and with a team.
  • Strong attention to detail required.
  • The ability to move between new and changing projects efficiently.
  • 2 year STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) Technical/college diploma is or Bachelor’s degree is desirable. On-the-job work experience and job skills training will be considered.
