We are currently hiring an experienced Lab Chemist to support our global software client onsite in Vancouver, Washington. This role is technical in nature and the ideal candidate would benefit from experience in an ever-evolving R&D team culture. This position offers comprehensive benefits with normal working hours at the client-site Monday-Friday. 

Responsibilities

  • Assists in recommending, evaluating, and setting up new analytical instrumentation.
  • Assists in mentoring and training laboratory personnel.
  • Performs routine chemical laboratory procedures, equipment, chemical nomenclature.
  • Uses advanced instruments to perform advanced and standard lab practices.
  • Develop and conduct complex and simple experiments and analytical methods.
  • Author and review technical reports.
  • Provide technical consultations to customers and vendors.
  • Conduct thoughtful discussions on complex theoretical concepts.
  • Work with equipment vendors for new tool research, purchasing, and set-up.

Qualifications

Skills Required:

  • Ability to operate advanced instruments in a routine fashion including set up, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting (IC, GC, LC, etc.)
  • Ability to perform:
    • Advanced, standard lab practices (titration, purification, etc.)
    • Data analysis
    • Literature and patent searches
    • Nonroutine work following ambiguous objectives

Education/Experience:

  • Thorough knowledge of the theory and operation of simple analytical testing (pH, conductivity, viscosity, etc.) and/or routine chemical formulation procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the theory and operation of more instrumentation (particle size, contact angle, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of general chemistry and/or materials analysis theory.
  • Sufficient knowledge of advanced analytical instrumentation theory and operation (chromatography, spectroscopy, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of chemical synthesis techniques.
  • Has sufficient chemical and/or materials analysis knowledge to recommend testing procedures for technologies supported.
  • Technical knowledge and experience of good laboratory practices and safety rules.
  • Experience in enhancing and developing analytical methods and interpretation of data.
  • Thorough theoretical knowledge/experience of chemical concepts and principles acquired through education, prior work experience or on-the-job training.
  • Expert knowledge of routine chemical laboratory procedures, equipment, chemical nomenclature.
  • 4-year Technical/College diploma in natural sciences is preferred. On-the-job work experience and job skills training in lieu of a college diploma is acceptable. Minimum educational level expectation is a 2-year degree.
  • Minimum 3-4 years’ work experience in a Chemistry Lab preferred. Experience requirement can be waived/reduced depending on education qualifications, skillset, industry standard certifications or other related industry work experience.
  • Must be able to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against Covid-19 prior to starting.
