Our organization is seeking experienced Substance Use Counselors to provide group counseling, psychoeducation and related interventions for individuals struggling with addiction and seeking long-term recovery with medication assistance.

In this role, you will interact regularly with members, referral sources, field staff, and members of the local community. You will be a resource for members and community partners, guiding them on the path to recovery. You will work side by side with a high impact team of medical providers and coordinators, helping members to thrive. Your work is essential and your constant feedback will be expected to help members reach the best outcome possible.
Responsibilities for Counselors include, but are not limited to:
  • Demonstrating and communicating the core values of Better Life Partners
  • Facilitating group therapy sessions for Better Life Partners members
  • Familiarizing with and utilizing Better Life Partners evidence-based curriculum guides and training
  • Providing detailed feedback and maintaining clinical progress notes on members
  • Counseling one-on-one with members, when deemed necessary
  • Participating in Better Life Partners’ community research and public health partners’ research and data collection efforts
  • Formulating and maintaining treatment plans for each member served
  • Collaborating with community partners and Better Life Partners providers on case management and care coordination efforts
  • Adhering to professional and ethical work standards, enforcing appropriate counselor/member boundaries
  • Managing group dynamics and problem behavior with strong, professional judgment and in a way that does not jeopardize group integrity
  • Maintaining compliance with federal, state and local regulations for licensing and billing purposes
  • Attending and engaging in regular training, company meetings, monthly counselor consultation, and supervision as necessary
This is a full-time, exempt status position. The starting salary is $49 - $69k annually.
This is a hybrid position. When not providing in-person services at one of our community partner locations, you’ll be working from home.
Qualifications for a Counselor:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mental health, social work, psychology, addictions or related human service field; graduate degree is preferred
  • Vermont License/certification as AAP, ADC, LADC, LCMHC, or LICSW
  • 2-3 years of experience working with substance use or related field
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel periodically within Vermont
  • Willingness to work 1 - 2 evening shifts (until 8:30pm)
Work from home requirements:
  • Must have internet service with minimum upload/download ability.
  • Company will provide equipment (laptop, monitor, keyboard, mouse and headset) plus a remote work stipend.
  • Must have a quiet and confidential space to speak to members with minimal background noise.
  • Must understand the importance of protected health information and ensure any data/information is not visible to others.
