Job Title: Human Resources (HR) Manager

Company Overview:

We offer premium name brands in recycling, solid waste, sweeping, litter control, storm water, and sewer equipment, primarily to municipalities as well as private contractors in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Michigan. Position Summary:

This position is responsible for oversight of the Human Resources department and performance of all general human resources functions. This position will report to the Chief Communications Officer. 

A successful HR Manager at Best Equipment has demonstrated a mindset focused on compliance, accuracy, and efficiency while enjoying learning and collaborating with others. The individual must be highly self-motivated, proactive, and be able to handle many diverse projects at once and meet assigned deadlines. 

Essential Position Duties:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
  • Assist with the recruitment and the talent acquisition processes both internally and externally, which includes interviews, candidate communication, and onboarding
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of workforce
  • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the organization
  • Nurture a positive working environment
  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
  • Maintain pay plan and benefits program
  • Assess training needs to apply and monitor safety and training programs
  • Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management, including unemployment and employment verification requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven working experience as HR manager or other HR executive
  • People oriented and results driven
  • Demonstrable experience with human resources metrics
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
  • Degree in Human Resources or related field

Job Location

  • Company headquarters – 5550 Poindexter Dr, Indianapolis IN (on site) 

Travel Requirements

  • Travel requirements are limited but could require overnight travel (less than 5%)
