The Systems Engineer role entails implementation and administration of server systems, applications and networks. This position is to ensure that the servers, software and network systems in the firm are maintained, timely updated and patched. The Systems Engineer will report to the Director of Network Operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead migration project from on-premise solutions to cloud-based Exchange Online and Microsoft 365.
• Software and patch deployment using Ivanti, Microsoft WSUS, SCCM and/or other patching solutions for centralized distribution of software packages, service packs, hot fixes, system updates and patches.
• Implement/verify OS patches, OS system upgrades and/or changes as needed and in accordance with change management policies and procedures.
• Actively monitor systems to identify, troubleshoot and resolve errors and failures related to the desktop environment and assist the team with server related issues as directed.
• Manage software inventory to ensure adequate licensing is maintained.
• Ability to work within deadlines and effectively handle stress.
• Availability to work outside of normal schedule (nights/weekends).
• Ability to establish effective working relationships and appropriately interact with others.
• Ability to act as backup for Information Security incidents, investigation and remediation.

Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Excellent understanding of Microsoft AD services, Microsoft DNS services, Windows Server 2012-2019, TCP/IP protocol in an Ethernet environment; including knowledge of LANs, VLANs, troubleshooting, and complete understanding of TCP/IP, POP, SMTP, SFTP, SSH, HTTP, SSL, and WMI.
• Experience with Windows Server Update Services/System Center Configuration Manager/Intune.
• Experience with Cloud service providers such as Azure and M365.
• Familiarity with VMWARE and Virtual Guest technologies, storage array technologies, and business continuity/recovery practices.
• Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Office 2016 Suite and above.
• Experience with migration to and administration of Microsoft Exchange Online.
• Experience with iManage Work 10, ideally in the cloud.
• Experience with Wi-Fi solutions and service management.
• Experience with next-generation EDR solutions (CrowdStrike).
• Experience with vulnerability management and remediation.
• Ability to work in a production environment under demanding circumstances and apply existing skills, knowledge, and techniques to new circumstances delivering high-quality work within agreed-upon deadlines.
• PowerShell scripting experience.
• Hands-on experience in network/server security, Duo or other Two Factor Authentication, ADFS, Entra ID and SSL certificate implementation and management.
• Must have strong communication skills with an ability to simplify complex technical details for a general audience.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent written skills providing clear and concise technical documentation to audiences of different technical levels.

OTHER HELPFUL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Triage and troubleshoot security alerts.
• Security Threat Hunting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Approximately 5 to 7 years of experience in an engineering role.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• This position operates remotely as well as in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines.
• Normal law office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
• Standard work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., exempt.
