BERWICK ACADEMY is Hiring a Computer Systems Administrator Near South Berwick, ME

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Computer Systems Administrator (CSA) manages technology systems and initiatives that promote growth and success in teaching, learning, and productivity. The CSA is dedicated to providing excellent customer service for faculty, staff, and students through in-person, telephone, and online communication. This position will provide technology support for the broad range of services offered by the technology department including network infrastructure, end-user devices and software. This position will be an advocate for users within IT for support processes, self-help documentation, and solutions to solve recurring issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Help Desk

  • Troubleshoot a wide variety of technical issues involving hardware, software, printing, WIFI, mobile devices, etc.
  • Perform pre-repair steps on laptops: run diagnostics, order parts, test solutions.
  • Manage setup of new computers and mobile devices.
  • Maintain repair, invoice, and insurance records on school and student laptops.
  • Manage student laptop insurance claims.

Network Administration

  • Provide support of the School’s network, servers, and other equipment, including routine maintenance of all server and networking equipment.
  • Problem solve technology-related issues using both creative and analytical techniques and managing the implementation of projects across functions.
  • In partnership with the Director of Information Services, analyze computer system needs for to determine scope and priorities of projects, system capacity and equipment acquisitions.
  • In partnership with the Director of Information Services, take a leadership role in developing and implementing the school technology plan

Other

  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of School or CFO.

SKILLS AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • Excellent customer service skills; effective and patient oral communication, especially helping people over the phone and in person are needed
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows, Apple OS/iOS and Android operating systems as well as supporting network connectivity, and printer configuration.
  • Experience installing and supporting a range of standard office software applications
  • Experience with MS Office and Google Apps.
  • Effective writing skills for communicating through email, web documentation, and with people of all technical levels are desired
  • Ability to learn and remember new tasks and procedures.
  • Lift items and shipped boxes up to 25 lbs., roll mobile computer carts, and handle monitors, printers, and other hardware devices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3 years of experience in a technology role
  • Previous experience with educational technology in a K-12 school environment preferred

  • Project Management Skills - Manages many tasks and projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines and maintaining quality work product. Ability to manage projects across functions and within budget.
  • Budgeting and Analytics – Experience with the development and administration of a department budget and the management of resources.
Confidentiality – The ability to maintain sensitive school and student information in the strictest of confidence, exercising absolute discretion and professionalism
