Berry Appleman & Leiden is Hiring a Senior Accountant Near Dallas, TX
Overview
The GL Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting in the execution of cash transactions and reconciliations, financial analyses, and reporting for various areas of the Company’s financials by supporting the various finance teams.
Responsibilities
- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations, and resolve any discrepancies timely
- Prepare month end Balance Sheet reconciliations, and resolve any discrepancies timely
- Prepare and enter routine recurring General Ledger entries
- Propose non-routine, complex GL entries for Manager’s review
- Serve as the primary contact for routine communications with domestic banks
- Identify and correct errors in the check registers, or in certain general ledger accounts under direct responsibility in cooperation with other team members
- Prepare cash application reports for Manager’s review in a timely manner
- Reconcile fixed asset reports to Property Assessments for all offices
- Prepare and maintain transactions for R&D Tax Credit
- Prepare annual surveys for US Census Bureau
- Prepare month-end variance analysis for various legal entities
- Assist with year-end audit preparation
- Prepare complex firm wide allocations for month end
- Prepare recurring month end reports for locations, lines of business, and corporate functions
- Prepare financial information for company insurance renewals
- Assist with tax workpapers for quarterly and annual reporting
- Additional duties and projects to be assigned

- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Skills and Abilities:
- Good understanding of GAAP
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Organized, customer service oriented, and detail oriented
- Team oriented with the ability to work independently
- Ability to work overtime when necessary, especially at year end and during Q1
Experience:
- 3 years’ experience in a financial environment with progression, preferably in a General Ledger and Cash/Bank Reconciliation function
- Experience with Aderant, Intellistat, and Fixed Assets software a plus
Minimum Education Level:
- Bachelor Degree with Business / Accounting concentration
