Overview

As part of the Data Services team, this role is responsible for building and executing test plans for all Data Services projects. Business requirements and the technical design must be well understood to identify the complete test plan including potential risks. Testing must be thorough to ensure client satisfaction and clean integration into the existing BAL systems. Ultimately the success of the technical solution (quality, stability, BAL standards, etc) of the engagement lands in this person’s hands.

As a Software Test Engineer, you’ll play an integral role in ensuring software products and B2B integrations we build meet and exceed our customer expectations. You will develop and execute test plans and scripts designed to detect problems in software applications and systems software; ensure that the software meets technical and functional requirements; and work with Engineering Services to resolve software defects and diagnose/improve product configuration for current and future modules. Your work will impact BAL’s business as a whole by building elite technology that enables BAL to transform the legal immigration industry!

Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contribute to our Data Services team by providing visibility to software application quality and improve the quality of final deliverables
• Be responsible for proactive testing, identifying gaps between specifications and actual implementation of the delivered application or any of its components, analyzing them, and supporting software designers in corrective actions
• Be responsible for identifying potential risks and ensuring they are covered in the test plan.
• Understand how to test at the Automation scripts, APIs leveraged and database level
• Design and execute test cases, test documentation or any other test assets
• Prepare test cases for automated regression
• Automate tests or work with the automation team
• Participate in story, integration, regression and post-release testing activities
• Share knowledge gained through testing, documentation, and learning session

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Represent BAL to clients in a positive and constructive way. This person will be heavily involved with client team members in complex and challenging situations. In all cases BAL expects the client experience to be positive, uplifting and constructive.
• Other design, administration, and support duties as assigned

Qualifications

3 Years’ Experience Minimum:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

• Software testing or Software development experience
• Working knowledge of software development lifecycle practices
• Experience testing Automation scripting, API and database level software
• Familiar with software tools such as Jira, TestRail, Postman, Swagger, SQL Databases
• Ability to work as the sole Software Tester on a small team or with other Software Testers on a larger team
• Ability to determine/write test cases that are appropriate for user stories
• Ability to determine/write test cases that are appropriate for regression and automation
• Ability to make sound judgment calls
• Ability to work well with minimal supervision and be a self-starter seeing things through completion
• Ability to catch errors and correct the work of others
• Ability to prioritize and to meet deadlines and goals
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience is a plus:

• Development and maintenance of SSIS package
• Automation development within Databricks
• Designing and developing client facing APIs
• Designing and developing integrations leveraging both API suites and EDI processing
• Complex bulk data manipulation and analytics

Education Level:

• Bachelor's degree in a related area or a combination of relevant certifications and job experience.
• ITIL certifications a plus.
