Overview

The Accounting Specialist reports to the Manager, Financial Reporting, and provides General Ledger, Billing, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable support and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Track and review monthly firm issued credit card statements and receipts.
• Communicate travel and reimbursement policies to firm credit cardholders.
• Assist Finance in maintaining and using multiple Accounting systems.
• Input new employees into Aderant.
• Assist with the Finance ticketing system.
• Review e-mails received in a group e-mail to provide a timely response or distribute it appropriately.
• Approve new clients, add them to COBALT/Aderant, and manage billing options in Cobalt.
• Maintain client fee schedules and updates of COBALT.
• Map fee schedules into COBALT.
• Provide weekly new client reports.
• Process all client requests for W-9s, bank details, and associated firm information.
• Work with Manager, Financial Reporting to maintain the flow of client special reporting requirements.
• Maintain contract database for firm and client contracts.
• Assist in the reconciling process of general ledger accounts as necessary.
• Prepare miscellaneous journal entries at the instruction of Manager, Financial Reporting.
• Construct financial reports on internal and external data requests.
• Assist with the company’s Escheat process using state guidelines.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES (Under the supervision of Manager, Financial Reporting):

• Assist Billing and Accounts Payable when needed.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Skills and Abilities:

• Experienced with Microsoft Office software, primarily Excel.
• Ability to work and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the Firm.
• Strong organizational skills, manage multiple tasks, and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to maintain a sedentary position for up to 90% of the work day.
• Able to type and to grasp, grip, push and pull file drawers and doors.
• Able to walk and to climb stairs or use elevator to coordinate with other departments.
• Able to bend, stoop, kneel and/or stand to access files and documents.
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs of files and/or boxes. 

Experience:

• 1 years of related experience is required. Law firm or professional services firm experience is preferred. Experience with a ticketing system is a plus.

Minimum Education Level:

• High School Diploma. Associate’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.
