Position Purpose and Objectives:
The Operations Manager's primary function is to support the Operations Department and Director of Operations. Job duties will include supervision of operations staff, training of operations staff, acting in the absence of the Director of Operations, and collaborating with the management team.
Essential Job Functions:
  1. Work in collaboration with the Operations Manager - Service & Supervision to oversee and manage all BCRTA street operations and all other services.
  2. Work in collaboration with the Operations Manager - Service & Supervision oversight of all Street Supervisors.
  3. Supervises and coordinates the operations of the Customer Service Department.
  4. Creates and maintains service and vehicle operator schedules. Ensures vacation and other requests are acknowledged and addressed. Maintains systems for call-offs and addresses vacant shifts in advance of service.
  5. Enforces BCRTA policy and procedures related to service operations, communicates policies and procedures to all operations personnel, and administers procedures and policy consistently and effectively.
  6. Monitors, creates reports, and provides recommendations regarding the performance of the operations department relative to service standards, target performance metrics, and overall service quality to meet organizational and departmental goals.
  7. Consults with the management team as requested in the development or implementation of new services or problem-solving situations.
  8. Collaborates with the HR team to lead the interview and new operator hiring process.
  9. Ensures all reports are received in writing for all incidents and accidents and all data is placed into the I-reporter within 24 hours.
  10. Manages risk by promoting a safe working environment and service operations and assures that all accident/incident procedures are communicated and effectively administered.
  11. Collaborate with the Planning & Special Projects Manager to evaluate existing services and service adjustments to meet target service standards and performance metrics.
  12. Attends meetings on Director of Operations' behalf or performs other duties as requested by the Director of Operations.
  13. Collaborates on special projects and organizational initiatives as needed.
  14. Participates and attends training seminars to maintain up-to-date knowledge within the profession.
  15. Acts as an ambassador of BCRTA by always promoting a positive image.
  16. The ability to perform the job duties of the Service & Supervision Operations Manager as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
Physical & Visual Activities:
Constant period of hearing, near and far acuity, depth perception, color vision.
Frequent periods of speaking and sitting.
Occasional periods of standing, squatting, walking, kneeling, reaching and twisting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to maintain a valid State of Ohio DOT card.
ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS:
Occasional exposure to exhaust fumes.
Usual office environment.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience:
Two years supervisory and management transportation experience. Experience with public transit operations preferred.
Education:
High School diploma required. BA or BS preferred.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
CDL with Passenger endorsement
Valid Ohio driver's license
