Responsibilities
This accounting position will involve a broad range of accounting roles and responsibilities including journal entries, account reconciliations, treasury functions, budgeting, financial analysis and forecasting. The position will report to the Director of Finance with frequent interactions with the CFO and other business leaders. This position will be exposed to international business in Canada and the United Kingdom. #LI remote
Key functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Analyze business transactions and apply GAAP in developing the appropriate journal entries.
- Prepare financial statements and provide analysis of significant variances
- Perform month end book close processes within prescribed timelines and with minimal supervision
- Perform account reconciliations
- Provide analytical support to the executive group
- Identifies, designs and test financial system changes for increased automation and process improvements
- Assist in the development of the annual budget and business plan
- Assist in the implementation of corporate initiatives
- Assist in SOX compliance and testing
Qualifications
- Bachelors’ Degree with a major in Accounting
- 3 years of accounting experience
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
- Attention to detail and strong organization skills
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment with limited supervision
- Proficiency with financial systems and standard software applications (PeopleSoft; Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). Exposure to Vena Budgeting Software is preferred
- Insurance accounting experience is also preferred
