Responsibilities

The Risk Management Consultant wil be responsible for reviewing and managing vendor relationships and conducting virtual inspections with clients. Ability to pivot to complete on-site inspections for clients in assigned territory as necessary.

Key functions include but are not limited to:

  • Perform reviews of client properties for the purpose of identifying underwriting concerns, potential hazards and developing risk mitigation strategies and determining appropriate levels of insurance to value
  • Manage workflow of vendor inspections, reviewing and completing reports and serving as the point of contact for our agents and clients 
  • Create processes to gain efficiencies managing virtual workflow
  • Strong ability to provide data analysis and reporting, ability to pivot as the needs of our clients change
  • High level of collaboration within the team, working on projects and initiatives for leadership
  • Demonstrate skill in managing exposures cause by water damage, homes under construction, personal safety and security, natural disasters and other perils typical to the territory and clientele
  • Clearly communicate as necessary with clients, agency partners and internal stakeholders one’s findings and determinations and work to develop a plan to mitigate risk in a manner consistent with Berkley One’s philosophy
  • Ability to complete on-site inspections as needed and when necessary in assigned territory
  • Perform other duties intended to develop relationships with agency partners. Support Berkley One’s growth in assigned territory by articulating our value proposition and services compared to the competition

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Risk Management field experience (or personal insurance risk management, loss control, construction, residential or commercial appraising, underwriting, property claims or a related field position)
  • Ability to identify potential causes of loss and develop appropriate recommendations
  • Ability to recognize various construction practices and understand building costs and associated issues
  • Strong insurance and business acumen as well as experience in the high net worth marketplace
  • This professional position requires scheduling flexibility and occasional extended hours in order to meet the needs of the customer
  • Incredible empathy and understanding of the needs of our customers, both insureds and their agents alike; you will be an excellent, pro-active advocate for Berkley One customers and are passionate about their brand experience
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills; your communication style is flexible to the situation; you communicate clearly and with a purpose
  • Calm under pressure; you have excellent organizational skills, integrity, and great follow-through on tasks; you are comfortable challenging norms while working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • You have a strong sense of accountability, fun and adventure
  • Natural curiosity; you love learning how things work and you are always looking for innovative improvements
  • An analytical mind; you love to dive into the details of an account in order to provide critical insights and information to Underwriting so that they can assess if risks meet underwriting guidelines, profitability models and customer needs
  • Must be adept at working successfully within a remote team
  • Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products and prior experience using e2value or other valuation software
