Responsibilities

The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis will play a pivotal role in helping us execute our strategic vision of finance as a business partner by providing our internal and external customers with forward looking financial data and analysis. This role will be responsible for leading and developing a team of analysts to assist with all annual planning as well as continuous forecast of results and related analysis. This role requires an effective leader who is a strategic thinker with a strong business acumen. As a senior leader in the Finance organization, this individual will be expected to take an active role in driving change, supporting growth and actively contribute towards the realization of Admiral’s business goals. 

  • Serve as subject matter expert in reporting and visualization tools used by FP&A in providing value-add business analysis.
  • Proactively identify and implement improvements to existing FP&A processes to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility of monthly financial reporting and analysis. 
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships across the organization, including Senior Leadership, Business Units, WRB Finance as well as other departments within Admiral. Through these relationships gain a deep understanding of their reporting and analytics needs to identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide mentorship, development and coaching to the Financial Planning & Analysis team.
  • Oversee the revenue and expense analysis, financial reporting and forecasting processes.
  • Develop and compile monthly management reports and facilitates performance discussions the Admiral Leadership team. Drives robust analysis focused on key measures and metrics and seek to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Drive all aspects of the annual and strategic planning processes.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close process.
  • Assist with internal and external financial audits.
  • Lead special projects and perform other duties as assigned including selective business case compilations and benefit realization tracking.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Minimum of ten years financial reporting / planning and analysis experience (with at least five in a leadership role) and two years Insurance accounting experience. CPA or MBA is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate large amounts of data while succinctly summarizing conclusions to Senior Management.
  • Ability to coordinate and execute projects independently, effectively manage time, prioritize tasks and autonomously perform within tight deadlines.
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to details. Effectively sets priorities, takes accountability and achieves results.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills along with sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity.
  • Capable of building solid working relationships with peers and management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to include a collaborative team player and the ability to relate and communicate effectively with all members of the organization. 
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite are a requirement. SQL Management Studio and spreadsheet modeling skills are a plus.
