Job purpose

The Design Lead is an integral part of our Product organization, defining the overall User Experience of our Web and Mobile applications, and defining our Design Strategy within our Product Engineering organization. Leading and mentoring other designers and evangelizing design within the beqom organization is also essential to this role. The Design Lead is responsible for maintaining our Design System which is used to implement design at scale for our engineering teams and ensuring consistency and beauty across our products. 

This role will engage with users and customer project teams to gather requirements and work directly with engineers, implementation teams, architects to come up with solutions to add value to our product for our customers. Presenting designs both internally and externally and gathering feedback at different stages of the design process and product lifecycle is an essential part of the role.

Duties and responsibilities

As a Design Lead, your main duties and responsibilities will include:

• Championing the voice of the user, ensuring the success of the business is always rooted in solving the most important problems as efficiently as possible..
• Understand the trade-offs inherent in delivering value to customers quickly. You take a pragmatic, iterative approach.
• Manage designers to complete design tasks but are happy to roll up your sleeves and do what’s needed yourself, whether that’s designing a UI component, charting a user journey, conducting user research, or something else entirely!
• Demonstrate good design sense and take ownership of the UX of our products
• Handle design at scale and how to optimize a design organization to work effectively and efficiently toward goals
• Find elegant, simple design solutions for complex problems
• Comfortable engaging with customers and users to involve them and stakeholders in the design process
• You have excellent presentational skills, especially when it comes to sharing your design and talking about your work both internally and externally.

Must have

Technical skills

• Excellent knowledge of design tools, components libraries, prototyping
• Strong abilities in user centered design process, interaction design, visual design 
• Solid experience of how the user interface should scale across different applications, platforms, devices, etc.
• Strong grasp of design system applications and shared design libraries and implementing design at scale
• Passion for planning, moderating and analyzing remote and in person usability studies
• Experience in creating, facilitating and analyzing workshops and co-design sessions with customers and stakeholders
• Expertise in front-end technologies (HTML/CSS, Javascript, WebComponents) and frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Vue) are a strong plus

Soft Skills

• Fluent in English, any other languages is a plus
• Excellent presentation skills 
• Ability to communicate know-how, experiences, ideas, solutions and deliverables effectively and persuasively
• Experience in mentoring and leadership of a team as you will play a role in developing more junior designers on projects that require in-depth knowledge of specific domains and skill development

• Experience in bringing to market software applications and online services
