Beneficial State Bank is Hiring a Business Banking Specialist Near Oakland, CA

Business Banking Specialists provides a full range of professional, technical, product, and general support via email, telephone and in-person interactions to our Commercial banking teams and commercial clients, related to small business, personal and commercial deposit products. They are responsible for safeguarding the bank by understanding and administering risk assessments and form compliance to reduce reputational and audit deficiencies. The Business Banking Specialist is also responsible for ensuring that new account setups are complete and accurate. Business Banking Specialists gather new account documentation from the commercial banking team and setup new account relationships based upon completed new account requests, as appropriate. They will act as experts on products, procedures, policies, and compliance related to commercial deposit accounts. The Primary focus of this position is to open new deposit accounts and perform account related maintenance for the commercial banking team. Business Banking Specialists must be able to efficiently communicate with Commercial Team members on new account needs, such as documentation, requirements, and compliance need to ensure accounts are setup timely and accurately. Comprehensive knowledge of BSA, Business Entity documentation, Beneficial Ownership, deposit regulatory knowledge is required. The Business Banking Specialist must be able to understand risks related to setting new deposit account relationships. The Business Banking Specialist must be able to communicate risks, concerns to the commercial team as well as require risks to be reviewed with management before relationships are completed. The Business Banking Specialist reviews their own work for accuracy and completeness prior to submitting accounts for review. Candidate must be a self-starter and able to manage time effectively to complete requests within 2-3 business days of date of original request. Business Banking Specialist is the main support role for opening accounts for the Commercial banking teams. This position is a unionized position through the Communication Workers of America. ESSENTIAL DUTIES · Strong communication skills in email, telephone and in-person interactions with clients and employees. · Manage queue of incoming maintenance requests from commercial banking teams related to new deposit and existing deposit account relationships. · Build Business Profiles and Individual signer profiles based upon incoming requests from Commercial banking team. · Ensure compliance with Regulations and internal controls in relationship to opening new accounts and maintenance accounts. · Create new customers and update existing business accounts for the Commercial banking team. · Obtain appropriate documentation for each new account at the time the new application is received from the commercial banking team. (i.e. review for completeness prior to onboarding a new client) · Be familiar with Business requests and provide feedback specific to each request to the Commercial team members when an account application or packet is incomplete. · Comprehensive understanding of risk ratings and establishing new accounts with the appropriate ratings. · Review BSA documentation to ensure that the Risk ratings assigned are appropriate based upon the information provided, even if the risk rating assigned was not performed by the Business Banking Specialist. · Seek additional documentation on new account and maintenance requests when reg flags are presented, specifically related to BSA, ChexSystems, Watchdog and New account activity reviews. · Track and document workflow to ensure that items are not missed and that they are completed in a timely manner. · Interdepartmental role is responsible for assisting relationship management and treasury management teams with new account documentation and reviewing of incoming requests to ensure that each officer is completing paperwork completely and accurately. · Communicate and share needs to manager regarding but not limited to new account setups, maintenance, and assistance with opening new commercial accounts. · Maintain and update daily tracking form to ensure commercial teams can view their submissions. · Promotes and maintains positive relations with all contacts, and internal customers. · Contributes to the fulfillment of the commercial department and Bank objectives and goals. · Accurately performs all required transactions following policies and procedures to minimize losses. · Reviews files for completeness and communicates any deficiencies with new accounts or maintenance requests prior to completing to the submitting employee. · Maintains signature card files and follows up on temporary signature cards and other documentation and receives completed documentation prior to activating accounts. · Ensures accurate risk ratings, customer identification, and all new account documentation is accurately reviewed and entered in to the core. · Discuss account related needs with Client Treasury Manager’s and Relationship Manager’s and provide account related solutions to inquiries and requests. · Exceptional clerical skills, including filing, retrieval of documents, proof and edit routine, office correspondence, report and form building and input across all Microsoft Office products. · Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations and internal company policies, including but not limited to BSA / Anti-Money Laundering, Fair Lending, Privacy, and Anti-Discrimination, to the extent each applies to current job responsibilities. This includes successfully taking all online compliance training as assigned within specified due dates. · Communicates deficiencies within paperwork appropriately to the account officer in a timely manner and requests and tracks updates to incomplete documentation. · Other duties as assigned.
