Position SummaryThe Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist will be responsible to train employees on safety policies and practices, conduct regular workplace inspections, generate health and safety assessment reports, and ensure compliance with all occupational guidelines and regulations. The position will report to the Corporate Director of Safety. As an EHS Specialist at Ben E. Keith Company, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, the community, and the environment. To be a successful EHS Specialist, you will collaborate with various departments to develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive health and safety programs, policies, and procedures. Your expertise in health and safety regulations, along with strong leadership and communication skills, will be essential in identifying potential hazards, assessing risks, and designing strategies to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental impacts. Core Responsibilities:Assist the Corporate Director of Safety with the management of company EHS goals and objectivesDevelop, implement, and maintain effective environmental health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with relevant regulations and industry standardsConduct regular assessments and audits of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and risksCollaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver training programs that promote a culture of safety awareness and complianceMonitor and analyze incident and accident reports, identifying trends and providing recommendations for corrective actions to prevent future occurrencesParticipate in the investigation of incidents, accidents, and near misses, and contribute to the development of root cause analyses and action plansEnsure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste, including certification, oversight, and reporting for underground and above-ground fuel storage tanks, adhering to local, state, and federal regulationsMaintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices, and communicate changes to internal stakeholdersCollaborate with regulatory agencies, as necessary, to ensure compliance with environmental health and safety regulationsProvide guidance and support to management and employees on matters related to environmental health and safety. Position Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety management, or similarOSHA or similar EHS certificationIn-depth knowledge of relevant regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and ANSI, and a track record of maintaining complianceThe ability to read and interpret safety data sheetsDetail-oriented, organized, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectivelyExcellent communication skills to deliver training, prepare reports, and interact with employees, management, and regulatory agenciesStrong analytical skills to assess risks and develop effective mitigation strategiesProven ability to influence and drive a safety-focused culture within the organizationProficiency in software tools (Office applications and RMIS systems) for data analysis, reporting, and documentation
