Job Description: The Third Shift Manager is responsible for supervising all Third Shift Supervisors and Third Shift Youth Care Workers in order to provide a group living atmosphere conducive to residents’ individual treatment goals. The Third Shift Manager’s is responsible for the general supervision of both campuses throughout the night. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Assists with resident coverage as needed to ensure compliance with regulatory staff to resident ratios. 2. Oversees the nightly routine across campuses and ensures that employees are following the nightly routine. 3. Completes 3rd shift schedules monthly and fills open shifts on 3rd shift as needed. 4. Shares “on-call” responsibility, on a rotating basis for the call off phone ensuring that the campus has adequate staffing. 5. Insures that necessary paperwork, such as Fire Drills, Weekly Summaries, Incident Reports, Seclusion Reports, etc., is completed in a timely manner. 6. Provides coaching and counseling and corrective actions in consultation with the Director of Residential Services, Human Resources Director and/or President as needed. 7. Upon completion of medication training, monitor and document the self-administration of medications by residents, noting any refusal, resistance, unusual reactions, errors, or special concerns to the on-call nurse. Insures that MAR’s are complete prior to turning them in at the conclusion of each month. Attends medication representative meetings as scheduled by the Director of Nursing. 8. Participate in staff meetings, in service and outside training events as required and encouraged to improve the quality of care provided, aid staff teamwork, enhance child care skills and promote professional development. Remain current in Safe Crisis Management, CPR/First Aid and other agency and/or state required training. 9. Coordinates security checks across campus during the night shift. 10. Attends interviews for Youth Care Worker positions available on 3rd shift. 11. Drives agency vehicle as needed. 12. Manages two subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 20-35 employees in the 3rd Shift Supervisor. 13. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. 14. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Incumbents may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. EDUCATION · Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university · Or equivalent combination of education and experience EXPERIENCE · One to two years related experience and/or training · Ability to learn and demonstrate required training including; Safe Crisis Management (SCM) and PEM · First Aide/CPR · Knowledge of Microsoft Office · Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. · Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. · Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. · Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. · Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. · Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. · Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS · Valid driver's license · Consistently at work and on time · Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent · Employee is frequently required to stand; walk and talk or hear. · The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. · The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. · Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. · Employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. · The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. · Travel around campus and between campuses may be required.
